Dr. Marylin Otero, MD

I visited an urgent care (AFC Medical in Clifton, NJ) where Marilyn Otero works. My 7 year old daughter was the patient and had tested positive for strep. The facility received the results 3 days after our visit where the in-office strep test was (-). This doctor was supposed to follow up and prescribe antibiotics. She called, did not ask how my daughter was doing but abruptly said she sent in the prescription and hung up. I went to get the prescription 30 min later only to find out she prescribed adult antibiotics for my 7 year old. Realizing this, I went in to the center to speak with her & asked for her at the front desk. She refused to come out, but told the receptionist to tell me she resent the prescription. After insisting that I have to speak to her, she came out very rudely and said she had nothing to say or apologize for. When I asked why she prescribed adult meds for a 7 year old, her response is she saw my picture in their system and prescribed based on that.

I was really uncomfortable during my visit with the provider. I had to ask the doctor to send out my specimen for testing even though the results showed an abnormality. The provider didn't ask about my symptoms or provide any information. She also wanted to perform an unnecessary exam without asking me any questions.

Spot on; after my husband was in the ER all night they released him; he was still in pain and unable to rest; Dr. Otero ordered a CT scan which immediately showed a large kidney stone which needed to be removed surgically. She asks good questions and absolutely knows her subject. I highly recommend her.
