Dr. Mary Vrabec, MD

I saw Dr Vrabec as a new patient looking for a PCP. I have seen an oncologist quite regularly for the last 4 years and thought I had “graduated” from needing a PCP, my Onc did not agree. To start my search for a new PCP I turned to my insurance companies in network providers list. I live in Johnstown Colorado, and there were NO providers on this list in my small town, nor were there any in the larger towns nearest to me. Dr Vrabec’s office was 40 minutes from my home, no big deal right? Apparently it seemed to be a red flag for her, as she questioned me, in detail, as to why I didn’t have a provider “up north”, as if I traveled a great distance from Winterfell. I also wanted to talk to my new PCP about my recent ADHD diagnosis from my counselor, who I have seen, at least, every 2 weeks for over the last 3 years. Dr Vrabec informed me, after spending about 15/20 minutes with me, that I did NOT in fact have ADHD because I didn’t struggle in school (20 years ago). Very frustrating!

She has a terrible bedside manner and takes little time to holistically go through patient’s health concerns. Terrible experience with entire practice at Aspen Medical Group making me leave to find better care elsewhere!

I had hopes of mapping out a way forward after having a procedure that was meant to help my pain had led to my going to urgent care. My last appointment with Dr Vrabec lasted a maximum of 10 minutes, consisting mostly of her reading my chart to me with what has occurred since I saw her six months ago. She prescribed me a medication that I have multiple contraindications for and an additional medication after I reminded her of this. Then, as she stood to leave, essentially shoo’ing me out the door, she mentioned that she doesn’t prescribe long-term opioids and would have to refer me to a pain clinic if that’s what I was interested in. Nope. I would just like to know what’s causing me to have joints of someone 20-30 years older than I rather than being reactionary for the rest of my life. Tl;dr - Mary Vrabec pushed me to find proper treatment.

Rushed through visit…just wanted blood work and to refer me out. No interest in trying to determine cause of pain.

I've seen her twice. Neither times was I impressed. She seems to be underqualified, not knowledge, and has poor bedside manner.

My experience with Dr Vrabec was not good. As a new patient she shared she only had 20 minutes to hear or read my complex medical history I've never experienced a physician with such poor level of interest in quality of care or patient centered care practices. In her commitment to streamlining discussions with patients, there is not a long wait to be seen and my appointment seemed quick, although far from comprehensive for quality care and treatment. I hope what I experienced is not customary.
