No Active Communication Skills
I have never had an encounter with a doctor who was more poorly trained in active communication in my life.I have never met a doctor more combative or threatened by a patient asking questions or pointing out problems with his arguments or answers. And he seemed personally offended by my having a mask on in the doctor's office. He questioned me about my mask, wanting to know if I was sick and treating me like a lunatic for answering about covid and bird flu being up again (mid pandemic numbers according to sewer testing). His final statement was something to the effect of, 'If you won't trust my opinion as someone with 40 years of medical experience that there's nothing wrong with you right now, then we're done here.'I reiterated that nothing's wrong right now, my stuff is resolving despite their opinion that there was nothing to resolve and I'm just as stressed and anxious as before my symptoms started to resolve (so they weren't caused by the stress or anxiety).

Review from long term patient of Dr. Mark Nielsen
I've been going to Dr. Nielsen for over 25 years. My experiences have been excellent to exceptional. Dr. Nielsen is always up-to-date on the latest therapies, medications and conditions. Very personable and always gives me adequate time to listen to any concerns that I might have. He has incredibly good follow-up. He ends almost every appointment by saying, 'Now, do you have any other questions?' I highly recommend Dr. Nielsen.I would also add that my experiences with the staff at Fairview Oxboro Clinic whether in the clinic or on the phone have been extremely and consistently helpful and professional. They have been consistently very accomodating. If you call and leave a message for Oxboro Clinic, they always return your call in a timely basis.RFD

Good Doctor - Good with Patients
Dr. Mark Nielsen internist at Fairview Oxboro Clinic in Bloomington, MN was efficient, professional & knowledgeable (having been a doctor for 30+ years). I really appreciate experience especially in the medical field. I also very much appreciated that Dr. Nielsen & I had a conversation to figure out my care plan & he answered all my questions. Too often doctors are so rushed they really don't have time for questions - but Dr. Nielsen does answer questions & that is valuable to me.

Does not listen, treats patients as if he truly believes we are all ignorant and illiterate. My worst experience was being ridiculed for going to an emergency room with chest pain. Afterwards, he said, "So, you went and got the million dollar workup," rolling his eyes. What was i supposed to do, make an appointment and wait a week to be seen? The ER doctor apparently thought my symptoms warranted a visit because he admitted me to the hospital. I have only been seen in an ER twice in my life and I was 61 years old when this happened. I do not overuse medical resources. After this experience, I, understandably, found a new primary doctor. No one has to put up with this type of medical care.

Dr. Nielsen has been my primary physician for more than 10 years. Has always been sincere, honest, caring, knowledgeable and informed. Surprised to see negative review from Bruno D----Dr. Nielsen has always been prepared for appointments and follows up with lab results and follow up recommendations very promptly. I recommend him without reservation.
