Dr. Mark Chung, MD

Dr. Chung and his staff are great. I came to his office on a recommendation. My dad was very ill with kidney, diabetes, and various other issues. Although my dad is a very difficult patient, Dr. Chung rose to the occasion helping my dad get his sugar under control as well as paying careful attention to my dad's meds often changing them which brought immediate improvement. Most importantly, my dad and I grew to appreciate not only Dr. Chung's clarity and knowledge, but his sense of humor and honesty! Anyone who writes a bad review of this Doctor is foolish and looking for a fight. Great office! Hard working!

I have a relative that sees Dr. Chung and it seems like he's all about money!!! He will not see her other than the one original reason for coming in! If she has any other issues, he tells her that needs to make another appointment for that! Ridiculous! Every other doctor asks if you have any other concerns at the end of the visit! On top of that, the wait is at least 45 minutes from appointment time to when being seen! Why make an appointment?! Unprofessional!

My family had been going to Dr. Chung and his father before him since coming to Hawai’i. Dr. Chung takes the time to know a patient before giving diagnosis. He may take a little longer with a patient than the average doctor but, that’s because he cares about treating the source and not the symptoms. He isn’t afraid of discussing non-medical interventions which most doctors fear because of lack of knowledge or greed. If I could rate Dr. Chung any higher I would.

Dr. Chung is very knowledgeable and up to date. His manner is businesslike but respectful. Appointments are readily available. His staff are excellent, well-trained, and always pleasant. Wait times are moderate. He has an online Password access for patients to access their records and laboratory results. I highly recommend him as my choice for a Family Practice Doctor.

Dr. Chung's philosophy of care goes to the problem not the symptoms. He doesn't drug you up. My Dad moved from two specialty Kailua doctors before we lost him. Dr. Chung cleaned him up of all the meds he was taking and became the best in health ever! And, he didn't end up in the emergency room or admitted to the hospital annually as he did with the other two doctors. Those we recommend him to are totally pleased with their health outcomes. Bottom line, listen to what he says, he's great!

I am giving Dr. Chung a 1 star because I am tired of receiving erroneous bill regarding a $30 co-pay which I paid, as I had done on every visit till I switched doctor. I have written to his office numerous times, providing proof from my bank statements. I also requested that if this was a charge from anything other than the co-pay which I provided proof then have the detailed billing sent to me. This was repeatedly ignored as well. I am going to send the $30 just so that this stops.
