I recommend Dr. Bulgarelli. He has served me well for six years and I've always had a pleasant experience with his staff. If others have not been as fortunate, I hope he and his staff are responding.

I am writing on behalf of my father who is now in hospice care and unable to write. Dr. Bulgarelli ignored his concerns and complaints about abdominal issues for 5 whole years. My dad's white blood cell count kept rising steadily and the doctor attributed it to chronic leukemia, never once paying attention to the possible underlying cause. A different doctor explored different options to determine the cause of the abdominal issues my dad was having. After several tests that showed nothing, he ordered a full chest and abdominal area CT scan with contrast, which finally showed a huge tumor inside the abdomen. At this point, the tumor was deemed Stage IV advanced cancer and inoperable. Instead of taking my dad's issues seriously, Dr. Bulgarelli neglected ordering this kind of CT scan and kept giving my dad heartburn and acid reflux medications. This is negligence of the worse kind, because he potentially cost my dad years of life.

Love Dr. Bulgarelli. He is extremely knowledgeable and personable. My biggest complaint is with his patient check-in and more so his appointment scheduler, Amber Lee. She is extremely rude, snotty, unprofessional, and does not accept responsibilities for her own errors. Dealing with her simply causes frustration. If I did not like the doctor so much I would seek medical care outside of Scripps. Doctors at Scripps are good but other staff should be evaluated better.

I would not recommend Dr. Bulgarelli. His staff is uncourteous, especially his head nurse - aka Nurse Ratched. I was asked to come in for an appointment to renew a prescription. I requested an annual physical exam instead. At the appointment, I informed the nurse that I requested a physical exam, the nurse just looked at me coldly and said, well then you'll need to schedule it. So, I went to schedule it and was summarily told that the earliest opening for a physical would be in 5 months?!
