My excellent experience with Dr Teng
I was diagnosed with a Salivary stone in the submandibular gland on the left side of my jaw. I saw two surgeons before I lucked out to see Dr. Marita S. Teng. The treatment they were suggesting was very intrusive and the recovery lengthy and painful. I was told that I would need to to have strings hanging out of my neck for a few weeks. They both suggested that my gland was supposed to be removed. Dr Teng offered quite an innovative approach to remove from inside my mouth. She saw that the stone is quite shallow from the wall of my mouth. The surgery was perfect. There was no need to remove the glandIn a few days I was out of pain. Dr Teng has golden hands and the support team in Mt Sinai was very helpful and encouraging. Excellent experience!

I was misdiagnosed by her for an extremely serious illness. This caused my illness to advance and received wrong treatments for a long time. She is very cold and does not listen to her patients.

Dr. Teng is a talented and wonderful doctor who saved my life. I am only 21 years old, and she removed my benign tumor in my neck. She cares about her patients, and allowed me to fully understand the surgery in a way I could understand. It was a risky surgery to my facial nerves, as one was guaranteed to get severed. She successfully removed it and only my vocal chord was effected Dr. Teng preserved my tongue nerve. I am swallowing and speaking nearly perfectly now, because of her, as well as the other work of the doctors and nurses at Mount Sinai. I could not be more grateful for her, as she has given my life back to me. Dr. Teng is a highly skilled surgeon and doctor that I highly recommend.

Dr. Teng is simply amazing. She saved my life and is the most caring and compassionate person, beyond her incredible talent and intelligence. As far as I'm concerned and as far as the staff I have met at Mt. Sinai feels, there is no better.

I found her very knowledgeable but very clinical and cold in her approach. I expressed my concerns about the surgery and felt she wasn’t interested in alleviating them. Some people don’t care about a doctor’s bedside manner but I do. Therefore, I decided not to go with her for my parathyroid surgery.

In 2012 I was diagnosed with a sinister, pre cancerous thyroid. Dr Teng was my surgeon.. she was WONDERFUL! I was scared about the surgery, but she made me feel calm just before the anesthesia was administered. My thyroid had to be removed & the scar is practically invisible! Dr Teng followed up with me, and showed compassion. She also helped me with an undiagnosed cervical spine issue that I was suffering with. It's 2017 and I have something wrong with my neck again & im going to Dr Teng!!!
