Dr. Maria Alexianu, MD

She was the 5th neurologist I went to and I finally had a diagnosis. She was thorough and did not dismiss my problems and concerns.

I have been seeing Dr. Alexianu for about 19 years. She knows me and my condition very well! I recommend her practice to anyone suffering with debilitating/hospitalizations due to EXTREME chronic migraine!!! She provides me with very professional care and cares for my condition where I got my life back! I am forever grateful!

I was at overlook hospital from 11/20-11/22 and I didn’t even want her in my room after the first time I met her. She did not listen to a word I said, she BARELY made eye contact with me, she completely overlooked my MS and jumped right to epilepsy. I saw her ONCE while I was there. I begged for an MRI (her and Dr. Sharma) and I was denied…by the both of them. I went to my normal neurologist Dr. Naik upon discharge, THANK GOD and what was the game plan??? An ambulatory EEG and GET ME IN FOR AN MRI! Dr. Alexianu is an awful doctor. I don’t trust her opinions, and have no interest in ever receiving medical advice from her. EVER. And her bedside manner is absolutely appalling. I told Dr. Naik’s office that if I ever experience an MS emergency, and Dr. Alexianu is the only neurologist on call, I will WAIT and SUFFER until I can see another neurologist, preferably Dr. Naik. Don’t just stay away, run!

Wonderfully, caring doctor. Dr. Alexianu listens to your medical issues and applies her medical knowledge to find solutions. I had been passed between doctors and specialties for a year until I found her practice.

Very rude receptionist. Mix up in appointment date. I apologized her response was rude and sharp. Compassion seems to be lacking.

Dr. Maria Treated my children and myself with the dedication, thoughtfulness and compassion that is rare to see in this increasingly fast moving times. She takes the time to really understand a person’s concerns not only as a patient but as a human being. By the time we go and see a neurologist we are full of anxieties and fears that somehow disappear or diminish by the time she is done recommending her plan of actions. I gladly and proudly recommend her??!

Just about the worst experience I've had with a doctor in a very long time. Dr. had a horrible attitude and a bedside manor so poor it was almost laughable. I cannot fathom how this person has a practice or why anyone would go back for a second visit.

The only physician I have ever met that really treats the whole patient, thinks out of the box and investigates thoroughly to find the cause of illness., There is no reason to seek a neurologist in Manhattan or elsewhere if you have this physician treating your illness.

Dr Alexianu has been a blessing for my heath.After being dismissed my a neuro when I said my legs twitch said "well I don't see it " Dr alexianu diagnosed my disorder& proper treatment. Does EZmG herself. Always asks how I am doing on a medication/treatment knowing we are all different! Talks to you not at you! Feel better under her care over 9 yrs. Had unrelated spine surgery she checked for Nero impact & whole body not just neurological Knowledgeable w/ALL newest drugs/treatments-Best of Best!

Went to multiple doctors with the same terrible symptoms that were getting worse. They all told me I was fine and it was just stress. I found that odd considering I hadn't felt any stress or anxiety prior to onset. It was suggested by a friend to check out a neurologist and thank god I found Dr. Alexianu! She not only believed me, but actually ran tests to see what was causing my issues. She wound up referring me to a rheumatologist where I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, NOT NOTHING!

She is the most conscientious and thorough physician I have ever met with. She took the time to get to know me and carefully listen to my symptoms and concerns. I am not usually one to write online reviews, but I was so impressed by Dr. Alexianu's caring and thorough approach to helping me, that I felt obliged to share my feelings. I have never felt so unrushed and at ease with any other doctor. I highly recommend her.
