Dr. Kaufman was in charge of clearing me after a long stint with a heart infection attached to my mitral valve. Beings I was only 41, he wanted a second opinion from another cardiologist. Thanks to this last minute decision, surgery was recommended by both to fix the damage on the valve. I've had minor regurgitation and palpitations noticeably for more than 5 years but now it was severe. I was lucky and a repair was sufficient and a replacement wasn't necessary. I no longer have regurgitation, palpitations or a murmur. I was able to complete the Smuggler trail in the Rocky's just 3 weeks after open heart surgery. I am back in crossfit 4 months later and have better cardio than ever due to an upgrade on the ol ticker!
