Dr. Makeida Koyi, MD

My first session, the intake, my prescription and a good 50 minutes of Telehealth she billed $350. Sure! It was a great experience and a lot of work on her end. I had my follow up. Appointment was a standard $250. She basically asked me how I was doing on meds, I said fine, lasted about 10 minutes. The kicker, she billed an extra $150 for 'Psychotherapy' to pad her pockets. So $400 for me to tell her I was fine on my meds? No new prescriptions, no advice, nothing. The health center is perfectly fine, but stay away from this provider. SHHHHADDDYYY.

Dr. Koyi has been extremely helpful in my daily life by ensuring that she fully understands my mental health situation, not just one specific area. More how each area can add and substract from one's overall mental state. She listens first, asks clarifying questions that pushed me to be fully honest with her about myself. Then she provides mental guidance and medication to help me be a better person, not only to myself but to family and friends.

I was asked what appeared to be survey questions. Most of which were not the right questions. She appeared to be reciting memorized textbook answers. She was on phone or looking at phone entire visit. She appeared to be uninterested or not listening to what I was trying to tell her. I was more depressed and discouraged when I left than when I came in and with an even less optimistic view of people.

I am very upset with Dr. Koyi and her practice. I had two falls and left a message to her know since it may have been one of the newer medications I started. I tried reaching out to Dr. Koyi and also went to my primary care doctor. My primary care doctor told me it could be from my medication and to consult with my psychiatrist. I tried calling and let her staff know what happened and they told me she would call me back. After three days I called again and they said they would mark the message as “urgent” and assured me she would call me back. I decided to do my own research and found out the trileptal I was on can cause vertigo so I decided to quit it on my own without any guidance. I still hadn’t heard back so I called after hours to speak with the on call doctor. When I called nobody answered. I finally called a fourth time to reach out to Dr. Koyi and they told me she were on vacation and that I would have to wait until after her vacation to speak with her. I insisted that I needed

We had been working on sending a referral to a neuropsychologist so that I could receive testing. She kept assuring me she would send the referral each time I saw her, but it took her over 3 months to finally send it. I was patient and kind about it but told her how important it was for me to get that referral because I was in desperate need for support. By the time the referral was submitted and I finally got my diagnosis, I was so mentally exhausted from the lack of support that I had to take an emergency leave from work. She was unable to meet me for a month after that but I had no choice but to take an extended leave at that time for my own well being. By the time I could meet with her, she refused to do the FML paperwork because I didn't speak with her first or go to the emergency room which I have had horrible experiences with in the past. Not only that, but every time I spoke with her, she was abrupt, disorganized, and preoccupied.

Dr. Koyi does not return emergency pages when a patient is in crisis. Answering service actually laughed at the thought and said “you probably won’t hear back from her” even though it was an emergency. She also did not prescribe correct medication. Not responsive or caring. Doesn’t follow up.

Dr. Koyi refused to listen to my and my family's opinions and desires for rehabilitation placement after an emergency surgical procedure at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. I will NEVER see her again!
