Dr. Mahmoud Abualayem, MD

I’m quite surprised at some of these reviews. I recently saw Dr. Abeulayem two days ago and found him to be very thorough, not even slightly rushed and very compassionate. He was clearly knowledgeable and experienced and his staff was just as pleasant and helpful as he was. I don’t see any way to reconcile the two negative reviews here, I would recommend this physician.

I went to office a week prior to my appointment to sign consent paperwork to ensure they obtain my health records from another provider (out of state); when I arrived at the appointment, they had not even requested the records yet; therefore, the Dr. was unprepared form my visit; He dismissed my concerns; he ordered an Echo and it was not covered by my insurance--nobody told me this prior to me taking the Echo, they quickly rushed me to the room and conducted the Echo without any explanation or anything. He told me that the condition that my previous cardiologist whom I had been seeing for 5 years was wrong. He insisted his diagnosis was correct despite not seeing my previous records or even spending 10 minutes with me. I NEVER RETURNED to this place and have warned people about going there.

Dr A cares about his patience. Takes time to talk with his patients. Best heart doctor I’ve ever had.

I'm surprised at the negative review pertaining to Dr. Abualayem. I'm 79 years old and he is one of the best doctors I have ever had. He has probing questions about my health and addresses any questions I have. He offers suggestions about improving my health. He's very knowledgeable. I just heard that he is leaving the Berea, KY. office. This is a big loss for our town. Sad situation.

If you have any questions, don't expect to have any time for answers. Dr. Abualayem does not have time to talk with you about any concerns in your diagnosis, or any details on testing he is ordering. He will hold the door open as he asks you follow up questions so anyone outside the exam room can hear your responses. Every single appointment with him has been rushed, only to hear him chatting with the nurses about a beach house, how long the nurse has lived in Lexington, complaining about scheduling. If you have concerns about COVID, do not visit a St. Joe site as staff are often wearing their mask from a single ear, below their nose, or on their chin. Not a good example for the community.
