Very Caring Doctor
Dr. Jim has been so helpful and caring. My husband and I were affected by mold, leaking sewage and drain pipes, and wet walls in our condo. We were both so sick and didn't understand at first what was happening. We have been seeing Dr. Jim for more than two years. He has helped us so much.

After weeks of agonizing back pain, sciatica and not sleeping, I stumbled upon a podcast featuring a doctor by the name of Stu McGill (world-renowned expert on spine and back issues). I trusted Dr. Jim because he was on Dr. McGill's website. I was told numerous times by his secretary, before I put down a deposit, that the visit would last 3 hours. This is also written on his website. What a waste of $2350. Within 15 minutes he told me 'more likely than not' that I will need surgery and that the 'mcgill method' won't work for me. He proceeded to try some stretches and sleep positions and told me to go home and not do anything for a week or two and come back in a month. Basically I was put on bed rest. I asked if there are any medications that can help since I haven't slept in 3 weeks. He gave me sample CBD pills and a prescription that had nothing to do with pain. In fact when I asked him about medications that can help he stumbled (as if he's never written a prescription for thi

Thorough and Efficient
Dr. Jim was the first doctor to diagnose me with CIRS, after years of searching for answers due to severe chronic migraines with neurologists, PCPs, acupuncture practitioners, chiropractors and even sought care in Switzerland. I've been seen by at least 20 doctors with zero help, until I saw Dr. Jim. He suspected co-infections and Lyme that no other doctor cared to dig deeper about. He's thorough and does the testing necessary to get to the root cause. His consultations are not rushed and he really listens. Plus, his office manager Maria is great, she is thorough and very efficient. I highly recommend Mastery Medical for patients with no answers after searching and being ill for years, even decades.

Dedicated and knowledgeable
Dr. Jim treated my family for CIRS; he was recommended to me by a functional medicine doctor who said to look for a doctor who was specialized in the Shoemaker Protocol. Dr. Jim helped my family immensely, and healed our injuries after years of living in a profoundly water-damaged building. I cannot recommend him and his practice more highly. He is dedicated, knowledgable, and thoughtful... everything you'd want in a doctor. His staff is also conscientious and on-point in terms of responsiveness.

Questionable ethics
I had a couple CIRS/Mold Illnes markers. Was instructed to take the highest potentcy fish oil for 5 days 2 capsules 3x a day before taking Cholestyramine(CSM). Also instructed to eat sweet potatos every meal. Red flag, the Shoemaker protocol and it recommended a low amylose diet. Sweet potatoes are high in amylose. Did the CSM and fish oil for a few weeks and then the constipation was so severe I stopped the protocol. As the months went by I began to get even worse. He prescribed me CBD oil but that didn't help. Long story short, too much fish oil can cause fatty liver, clog it and reduce bile flow which leads to a whole host of symtpoms. Sweet potatos has tons of Vitamin A and beta carotene. Overload of A is very harmful leading to what is called vitaminosis A. CBD in my research is suppose to counteract the effects of vitamin A overload. Cause and Cure? You decide. On top of that he suddenly increased his fees and cut short the visit time. Get familiar with protocol beforehand.

Great Doctor
Having Dr. Jim and his staff helping me through my injury and the most difficult time in my life has been a blessing. He truly cares about you as a person and wants to do his very best to provide you with the care that you deserve. The appointments are not rushed and he's extremely thorough when treating you. Without Dr. Jim I would be much worse off, so I'm very grateful to have found such a knowledgeable and caring doctor. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Jim.

Dr. Jim was the 9th medical professional I consulted with for chronic, debilitating back pain. I had been diagnosed with lumbar disc disease and was offered surgery and pain medication but wanted to try physical rehab first. I dedicated myself to traditional PT, but made little to no progress. I was confused, frustrated and heading towards deep depression. I saw Dr. Jim when I discovered that he has studied Dr. Stuart McGill's mechanical approach to fixing back pain. We worked together on a weekly basis for 6-7 months to address my spine issues. Dr. Jim became deeply invested in my case; he checked in with me often and spent many hours outside of my scheduled appointments poring over my many MRI images and reports. It was Dr. Jim that recommended I consult with a specialist to further investigate several cysts in my sacrum before having disc surgery. Had I not seen Dr. Jim, it is likely that I would have had the wrong surgery for my particular issue. I highly recommend Dr. Jim!

My wife and I both suffered lower back problems several years ago. We were treated symptomatically, but little real progress was made in understanding and treating the underlying cause of our problems. PT, chiropractic, injections, medication, etc. provided a certain measure of relief, but long standing improvement and understanding of what to avoid were missing. Because I had undergone previous treatment with the methods of Dr. Stuart McGill, Dr. Jim was recommended as a possible source of help. Not only is he a McGill Method Master Clinician, but he is the only such clinician in the world with an MD degree. My wife and I both began treatment with him. Our first sessions were thorough, involving a detailed history, examination, and design/demonstration of an exercise program, followed by several monthly sessions. As of this writing, we are both greatly improved!! We understand the movement triggers for our back pain and are strengthening muscles that facilitate proper movement.

I came to Dr. Jim from Canada looking for a doctor to address my symptoms of both mold illness and chronic low back pain. He was able to do both and went out of his way to make sure I had as long of sessions as I needed to be properly diagnosed and educated as to my back injury and the proper care and exercises I would need in order to heal! Since then, I have been having much less pain and can tell that my body is slowly beginning to heal itself compared to misdiagnosises in the past that left me in a perpetual cycle of pain flares. He also appropriated the bloodwork I would need to get a proper diagnosis for my mold illness symptoms to provide accurate care and medicine. Allowing me to give him my full, detailed medical history, he was able to start me on a few medicines right away which have slowly helped me feel like there is hope to come out of this. I highly recommend him and his team!

Excellent young optimistic smart and passionate doctor trained in Shoemaker protocol. Highly recommend. Like some of the other reviewers, I took my son to countless doctors before Dr. Jim. He has a very optimistic attitude with chronically ill patients, such as my child. This is very unusual as many doctors treating mold don't understand how much a chronically ill patient needs to hear that he believes he can get them well (90 percent). He is also very kind, and caring. He is a great listener and is truly passionate about helping patients with mold illness. You can tell that he is very smart, and is willing to go the distance with patients to get them well. I really can't say enough nice things about him. I can't imagine any one not being thrilled with his services. My child is now 2500 miles from him, but we will never leave his care. Very blessed to have found him! Started seeing him over two years ago, and my son is now almost back to full recovery. Amazing!!

I have had years of back pain due to injuries. I was previously treated by a chiropractor who performed an adjustment that left me screaming in pain, and a PT whose roman chair back extensions exacerbated my problem. I knew the work of Stuart McGill and found Dr. Jim through the McGill website. Dr. Jim spent 90 minutes evaluating me and explained exactly what my injuries are, and what kind of exercises and movements I should avoid. I’ve always had trouble doing squats and deadlifts, and have consistently been told that I am too tight and need to stretch. Dr. Jim explained that due to my genetic hip structure, I simply cannot squat the way some can. It is due to my ancestry, not tightness. He also explained that the bent over stretching I had been prescribed are awful for someone with disk issues. He created a detailed and personalized exercise and stretching program that I have followed religiously. Since starting this I have had zero flare ups. I cannot recommend him enough.

Although it took a trip from Northern California, where I reside, to Pasadena to keep my appointment with Dr. Lysander, I am very glad I made that trip several weeks after my back recovered from the Dec 30 episode enough to travel. During an appointment lasting several hours, Dr. Jim thoroughly assessed my condition and was able to give me a clear and specific diagnosis that clarified the nature and location of the spinal lesion that has been the source of my lumbar spine problem. He identified specific movement patterns that I need to cultivate to avoid this problem in future, and taught me exercises designed to further strengthen those specific movements. Finally, he corrected some mistakes I was making in my 3-year practice of the McGill methods, mistakes that I believe (in spite of all my progress) left my spine still vulnerable to the unexpected acute episode in December. I highly recommend Dr. Jim Lysander to anyone seeking help with managing their Low Back Pain.

Amazing physician and person. My partner and I 100% believe that he saved our lives. I have already told all my loved ones that he is the one to see if they ever develop CIRS or any other similarly devastating chronic biotoxin induced illness.

We started with Dr Lysander in 2018 as he was referred to us by the CDC as we could not find a doctor to help us with toxic mold. He was very thorough and knowledgeable. We have a special needs son and he was very patient with him and made him feel very comfortable. We have our regular team of doctors and they respect him as he is very knowledgeable in his field. He cooperates with other doctors which is nice as some wont speak to other doctors outside their medical organization. He explains things so he is not talking over your head but in terms you can understand.

Paid an outrageous amount of money and didn’t get my questions answered then felt husseled out of the visit cause he had another app. Emailed him several times after got my tests results back and no answer, finally called and have to pay another outrageous amount to go over the results when I didn’t even get things thoroughly explained or answered in the first visit.

I wait months for notes & he looks at me like he doesn't recognize me & I landed from another planet. I explain what it is I want and he forgets almost everything I told him. He told me to wait in the waiting room so when I get my note it's missing all kinds of vital information. I wait so he can fix it and she says he's busy & I ask again & I'm told he aleady left! I was asked to come back tomorrow and now I'm told he won't be back till Monday. Doesn't listen. Lies. Always absent.
