Surgery
I have to give Dr. Calcote a 5 out of 5 star review. Not only is he personable, and funny he’s also an excellent listener. He took me step by step through my procedure and put my mind at ease. He saved my life. There was a blood issue and he respected my wishes. I would refer all people with gastro issues to him if I could. He loves his job and his patients.

Coming into this visit was 5 years in the making. I was scared, triggered and felt shame all over having hemorrhoids from having children. I read a review previously from someone saying he was gaslighting with an interrogating tone. That is EXACLTY what I called my PCP and husband saying he did to me before I read his reviews. He is a horrible doctor and honestly human. I told him that he was being condescending.. trying to say I’m not in pain, I don’t have flare up’s when I know my body and my husband could not believe he would even say anything like that when he sees daily how badly this effects my body and looks. He then told me to basically go to the bathroom and make them flare up and come prove it to him. I am calling MMIC on this doctor. I am grateful I work in the medical field and know the process of doing so. This is disgusting. As I was leaving early crying he said, let me get that door for you. Anyone who cares about how people make them feel. Choose an actual professional.

Dr. Calcote is the Best!
Dr. Lynn Calcote is outstanding in every area. He puts you at ease, listens, educates, then he skillfully does what needs to be done. If you are hesitating or worried about anything having to do with this topic, just go to him. I read some other excellent detailed reviews and can confirm that all the good words about him are true. He is phenomenal. I am so grateful for him. Thank you, Dr. C!

Compassionate Doctor!
My significant other was referred to Dr. Calcote following a discovered adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon. From the first visit, Dr. Calcote spent a great deal of time with us. He answered any questions and was transparent with the surgery (laparoscopic low anterior resection), any challenges that may arise, as well as the healing process. Dr. Calcote met with all of us before he went into surgery, answering all questions. His confidence put us at ease. After surgery, Dr. Calcote sat down with my daughter and I and explained how the surgery went, how my S.O. did very well and the importance of healing. Dr. Calcote is a very genuine person and we felt comfortable speaking with him, as if he was a family friend. The follow-up appointment 6 weeks later, Dr. Calcote, again spent a great deal of time with us, never feeling rushed out of the room. My significant other can now run errands without being anxious about needing to have a bathroom close by. His life has changed for the better an

Bad bedside manner
I barely gave him my history and he told me he was afraid of me. Maybe I accidentally interrupted him and I am a loud talker but that is not something that should cause fear? Then his interrogative tone and gaslighting everything I said made my experience worse. This made the meeting pointless and made me anxious. He used that anxiety as a diagnosis and lets just say you will not leave with your dignity. Even if the doctor was accurate on his diagnosis of a 2.5 year struggle, it was presented in a manner that made me think I should not be in the same building and that I shouldn't trust him.

Excellent surgeon
I have Crohns Disease and Dr Calcote has been taking care of me for the last 5 years. When I first saw him I was in the hospital and so sick I could barely function. After several surgeries, (he has actually saved my life), proper treatment and correct medications, my disease is in remission! Dr Calcote is not only a very good surgeon but also a very good person who truly cares about his patients.

Great Doctor Visit
I had developed some issues that I needed to get a specialist doctor to review. I was able to get a quick appointment with Dr. Calcote very fast. I generally don't like doctors, but I was pleasantly surprised by meeting with Dr. Calcote. He was very warm, friendly, knowledgeable and I could quickly tell he had a great deal of experience in issues like mine. He gave plenty of time to address my issues and rather than just tell me what to do, he gave me great choices and discussed the benefits and issues with each choice. He was very clear in his explainations which was very helpful and took all the time needed to answer my questions. I highly recommend this doctor and will use him again for other issues.

I had just been released from the hospital and had called my primary health care doctor with some concerns about my condition after my release. They advised me to go into the ER. I called my surgeon’s office hoping to speak with my surgeon, but Dr. Calcote was on call instead. I described my situation to him and the response I received was extremely rude and belittling. He did not pay attention to anything I said to him. I have never had a doctor speak to me in such a horrible manner. All I needed was a quick consult to know if I truly needed to head into the ER. I do NOT recommend this doctor.

I have been seeing affiliated staff since 2011. I like Dr Calcote personally, but I fired him yesterday (actually the office) When I’m sitting in a freezing exam room for 45 min after my appointment time and when you ask what’s up the staff just shrug their shoulders like “what are you complaining about?” it’s time to find a new doctor.

Dr Calcote has done 2 colonoscopies on me and this month will be my 3rd. Absolutely trustworthy doctor, excellent staff and bedside manners. It’s scary to do a colonoscopy, but with Dr. Calcote as your physician, you can rest assured you are in good hands and if something should come up, he calls you personally to discuss it and ease your fears. Can’t recommend a doctor more!!

Dr Calcote is a caring dedicated Doctor. I had a colonoscopy performed at St Joseph and his entire team and staff was excellent. He took extra time and spoke with me while the entire staff waited patiently. He’s a gentleman that is, kind, charming and quite funny. He is a suburb diagnosticians and his skill level combined with his bed side manner makes him in my opinion the Physicians Physician In gastroenterology.

Nobody likes to go to the doctor, even worse when it is this part of the body. Dr. Calcote made it far less uncomfortable, handling the discussion comfortably but seriously. Needed scope and surgery, all went just as he described. Highly recommended.

I found Dr. Calcote to be kind, personable, warm and he possesses a great sense of humor in what are sometimes uncomfortable circumstances. He was patient and thorough and always took the time to explain the risks and rewards of my pending surgery. After the procedure, he remained empathetic and was always available for consult. I had a stage 4 hemorrhoidectomy and acknowledge the pain was nearly unbearable at times, but that obviously doesn't reflect on the Dr. Highly recommended!

I would not recommend this dr. My son had surgery and he was the dr on call when my son was bleeding and in pain. He told me I was bothering him and his family on Saturday night at 8:00pm. He was extremely rude, unprofessional and arrogant. He hung up on me when we just wanted to know if the bleeding was normal. I have never had a dr talk to and belittle me the way he did. He is in the wrong profession and has no compassion, sad sad dr!

Dr Calcote is very patient and spent alot of time with me prior to the surgery explaining everything that was going on with me and what would happen after the surgery. He is kind, calm and very generous with his time which is exactly what I needed prior to the surgery. Overall this was my greatest experience with any doctor.

Had Dr. Calcote fix a J-Pouch surgery that I had previously had done in Tucson, that left me in severe pain and quite depressed. The Dr. took the time to listen to me and take me seriously and re-did my surgery. He literally saved my life and I go out of my way to travel to Phoenix to see him because it's worth it to get quality care from someone who actually takes the time to listen.

After visiting over 25 doctors, hospitals, and clinics over the past two years while traveling through some difficult health issues, I have a lot of doctors and office staff members with whom to make a comparison. And I would place Dr. Calcote and his office staff at the top of the list. My wife needed help quickly, Dr. Calcote moved quickly to open a space in his schedule, his office staff facilitated this well, and the appointment was unrushed, caring, educational, and professional.

Had consult for incusional abdominal umbillical ventral hernia repair (made necessary by appendix surgery performed by another surgeon in Calcote's office...), and his surgery plan was very simplistic and bound to fail (I learned after getting 3 additional opinions). When questioned about the details of his plan, he got very miffed and defensive and decided he didn't want me as a patient. This was immature bc I always got my colonoscopies at that clinic, now I won't be.

Dr Calcote saved my life. He not only is a skilled competent surgeon but a gentleman that truly cares and goes the extra mile for his patients. He is dedicated to excellence and stands by his patients. He is active in the recovery process and gives a 110%. I could not have asked for a better surgeon or Dr. I had two major emergencies after the initial surgery and he was right there for me being proactive and making sure the system worked for me. I would more then recommend him as a GI Dr.
