Nice, but arrogant and missed the diagnosis
He’s very friendly, but too confident that he can solve your issue, then gives up if the answer is not right in front of his face.I went to him because I was having issues with a lot of foods, but especially gluten. He pushed a colonoscopy right away, and when his biopsies found nothing, he gave up and told me “it must just be IBS.”I went back a month or so later after an emergency trip to the ER that was a result from eating a lot of gluten and I told him I noticed feeling better after cutting out gluten. He said maybe I just need to cut out gluten and basically said it wasn’t a gastro problem anymore since he didn’t find anything in the colonoscopy. Turns out I have Celiac and that wasn’t even in his realm of options to look into.

Lifesaving care!
Dr Nidea found a troubling growth that would become cancer soon if it had not been found. I am grateful to him for his care and kind, professional services.

Absolutely fantastic GI! I have had my share and HE takes the prize. I love his bedside manner - the bio is correct, he IS a teacher and he KNOWS what he is teaching! My favorite!

Unwilling to work collaboratively with his patient
I saw Dr. Nidea for some stomach pain symptoms and ended up receiving a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease. Dr. Nidea presented very little in terms of options and pushed an extreme immunosuppresant drug (or comparable biosimilar) for life, which made me uncomfortable. While Dr. Nidea listened to my concerns and answered my questions related to the drug therapy, he was unwilling to consider or explore less severe treatment paths such as diet & lifestyle changes or medications with fewer health risks. I sought care from a functional medicine doctor who has worked with me to naturally unburden my immune system and modulate my condition. Upon updating my doctor of my care to keep him informed, Dr. Nidea abruptly termed me as a patient. No phone call or explanation outside of a curt termination letter. Very disappointing but confirmed that I need to find a GI that is more patient centric and willing to help me explore alternative approaches along my health journey.

Frustrated Patient – Jul 24, 2024

Several colonoscopies
First of all- the 1 star review by ‘Youwastedmytime in Indianapolis, IN – Jan 31, 2017’ is bogus. Why would someone come up from Indianapolis hours away to SBnd? Indy has plenty of specialists of its own. He doesn’t practice in Indy. He has always been kind and attentive with myself and my wife. We have a combined experience of 5 colonoscopies by him. Has pictures of polyps addressed and discussed likelihood of issues. He changed location from South Bend Clinic to Memorial a couple years ago and we are following him to that location for continued service.

Excellent treatment
First rate! I have been a patient of Dr Nidea for many years. I had an especially painful situation that sent me to ER, and by the time I got there, the pain was gone. I made an appt with Dr anyway and he was prescribing tests when he asked me if I’m diabetic. No I’m not, but I tend to develop low blood sugars rapidly. He perked up and asked more questions, then sent me for a more detailed test. It was spot on, and I got a diagnosis for something that has plagued me for 30 years! He gave me dietary instructions and as long as I follow it, I have no issues. No one else could help me. I recommend him highly to anyone needing a GI Dr! Much respect!

Dr. Nidea is fine, but trying to get through to someone in order to make an appointment is so frustrating! And they can't blame the pandemic - it's ALWAYS been that way. Come on people - I'm sick of being thanked for my patience and told how important care for your patients is when it's quite obvious that such is not the case!!

I was referred by my surgeon to Dr. Nidea to perform a colonoscopy on me because of problems I was having. He was very thorough in asking me questions about my various symptoms prior to the procedure and then was helpful in explaining what he found and gave me a picture showing the different things he found that were reference by number on a diagraph of a colon. Dr. Nidea was very friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend him.

Very arrogant, asked when last scope was done and where. I told him another doctor in the same office. He argued with me that I did not have one there. Then says oh yep you did and results show your healed. Might as well say rise up and walk. Symptoms still the same, no it's not healed.
