The very best experience!
Dr. Gilles is a one in a hundred doctor with his winsome and caring personality. He is so very knowledgeable and able to communicate clearly what I needed to do to solve the tendonitis in my foot. If you have a foot or ankle problem he is highly recommended 100%! His whole office and team are easy to work with and on time.

Awful Experience. I trusted Dr. Gilles to perform a surgical procedure on my large toe joint, however I'm left now with permanent damage, a misaligned toe bone and still in much pain 8 months afterward. My toe became seriously infected within 1 week of the surgery and eventually required a skin graph. And, although I was concerned about the severity of the infection, as it was not healing and was getting worse, Dr. Gilles denied my request to continue antibiotics and did not take a sample to send to the lab for infection identification. Finally, 3 months after the surgery and after much pain, intense odor, redness and swelling, I went to the Scripps ER. I was diagnosed there with advanced cellulitis and placed on an antibiotic specifically for cellulitis. The new antibiotic finally allowed my incision to start healing. Yet, afterward, Dr. Gilles minimized the ER’s doctor’s diagnosis by stating "cellulitis is just a generic term". I should have been referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon, NOT a Podiatrist who was/is inexperienced regarding this specific surgery.

First let me say that Dr. Gilles didn't treat me like a patient, he treated me like a friend. I had a first metatarsal phalangeal joint arthrodesis on my right foot. The process could not have gone any better. In fact, it went so well, I opted to have the same procedure on my left foot just 3 months later. My wife and I will forever be grateful to Dr. Gilles. He made my (almost impossible) job, with the pain I was experiencing, possible again! Thank you!

Smart, Compassionate and Helpful
Dr Gilles is warm, kind, and professional. The first thing I noticed about his office was that he actually listened to me without typing into a computer. It seems that’s what all doctors have to do nowadays. He listened carefully to everything that I said about my foot pain. it was like having a conversation with an old friend. He’s obviously expert at issues surrounding the foot and ankle. He spent nearly an hour with me, without ever typing or writing. By the end of our visit he had given me advice, a plan to deal with my foot issue, and literature to help me find the products that I needed. He sells nothing, but offers insight into where to find it, places, such as Amazon, where I do a lot of shopping. I would recommend him to anybody who’s looking for a real human being, not a robotic version of a doctor.

Brilliant, personality-plus and thorough
Dr Gilles was prepared, personable and precise in his assessment of my long standing foot pain issues. After multiple surgeries with different surgeons, I was resigned to pain in my foot. I thought I’d give it one more try and I was shocked at how accurately and knowledgeably Dr Gilles assessed my foot problems. As a nurse, I am often disappointed in the fast 5 minute impersonal visit but NOT this time. Imagine a doctor who prepares for your visit the NIGHT before! He read my X-rays and was already assessing my situation and thus prepared for me when I visited. He educated me on what was wrong, how to conservatively fix it and then proceeded to tape my foot, recommend corrective devices and even printed out educational materials. I’m a HUGE fan and I only wished Dr Gilles had been my surgeon 10 years ago because he would have done it right! Thank you for everything.
