Good doctor, unfriendly staff
She is good. But her staff - mainly the front staff - not great. I am considering making a change. But I doubt if they would care. Staff is unfriendly. Not accommodating. They can you, you call back - crickets. They are “too busy” or “about to close.” (My favorite - “about to close” - that doesn’t mean you are closed. Get the provider that called! “Wait (yet another) day and MAYBE we will call you tomorrow before we close for the weekend.” Jeez - such a lousy staff for a good doctor.

Filler Fiasco
I’ve had dermal filler many times over the years with a previous doctor in another state with barely any bruising or swelling. He took his time and injected slowly and strategically. Doctor Scatena appeared to be rushed and injected my face while lying down. This caused the blood to rush to my face. I suffered a huge hematoma, bruises and swelling at every injection site on the left side of my face. She sat me up for the right side of my face and it did not bruise or swell. She apologized but did not offer me any other explanation other than she was really sorry. She offered me free laser to help bring down the swelling which it didn’t because the hematoma was so large. It took two weeks for my face to look normal and the fillers were barely noticeable. Overall a very traumatizing and expensive experience.

Excellent and caring doctor
I have been going to her practice for over two years and have never encountered anything but competent, calm professionalism and a warm and friendly atmosphere at her practice. In fact, Dr. Scatena did me a great service in tracking down the proper people to diagnose and treat a rare vascular disorder of mine that had puzzled many other doctors for decades. I am very grateful at having found a doctor who would go to bat for me like that—the matter required a fair amount of her time, attention, and persistence, and the good outcome of my problem is thanks to the compassion and interest that she showed in my case.

I’ve had a very itchy back and fingers for years. I sent to five dermatologists and none could help me. Dr Scatena scraped my finger and back and prescribed a cream that actually worked. I highly recommend her

Deliberative. Appointment was to have 3 issues evaluated. Assistant brought me in and had me wait until she briefed me on the availability of Dr.Scatena to treat all 3 concerns. The assistant then asked if I would like to cancel or go ahead with the 2 issues and schedule the other one another time. Dr. Scatena appeared and addressed the 2 issues.(one was cancer that she claims to treat more that other Dermatologists in the same area). When she was finished with both issues and was asked about treatment for the third issue she did not reply...she stated that the third issue would require another appointment. She turned her back and walked out before I finished my sentence. This was a definitive action on her part about whether or not I should make another appointment. A physician who walks out in mid sentence clearly signals the patient to seek care elsewhere. ZERO STARS if they were available.

Dr Scatena has a great bedside manner and friendly staff. She is able to put me at ease before she does any procedures, explaining things in full. Her office is much like a day spa, very soothing. I highly recommend her for your dermatology needs.

I spent about 15 minutes with her assistant giving a detailed history and specifics of my issue. The doctor walks in and asks, “What brings you here today?” That turned out to be the least of it. Dr Scatena came across as smug and asked questions in an extremely judgmental and offputting way. In describing the issues around my having multiple medical issues that might indicate opposing treatment choices, some recommended to me by other MDs, she said, “You get to be a big girl and decide.”

Dr. Scatena found a tiny basal cell carcinoma that required surgery. I truly doubt that any other doctor would have found it. She recommended 2 outstanding surgeons, and the outcome was better than I would have thought since the cancer was on an eyelid...

The practice does not 'walk the talk' when it comes to office policies. On multiple occasions, I have waited even up to 1 1/2 hr for my appt. The irony is the dr requires a signed agreement w/ a credit card if you cancel last minute or arrive too late for an appt. In a recent appt, I was left waiting for 10 mins. in the room. I was assured this was quick appt & really needed to get back to work. Due to history, I checked in and this upset the dr. My job is important & should not be left waiting.

She's a great doctor, but it's impossible to get in to see her. I called to set up and appointment in early January. The soonest she could see me was early March. I made an appointment, but the office scheduled me at 8:45 instead of the 8:15 slot I was told was available, so I had to cancel that appointment and set up a new one! And, of course, her next available appointment was in early May! In the 2-4 months it takes to get in to see her, someone else could have been treating me! What a waste!
