Cold & Uninterested is an understatement!
I should have read the reviews more carefully. I sent my college daughter there to ask questions about issues she's been having. She could not have been more disappointed. Dr. Barakat was condescending, mean, and extremely unhelpful. All the other reviews were spot on based on my daughter's experience. She had more questions to ask, but didn't want to subject herself to feeling any more stupid than Dr. Barakat made her feel. I will tell everyone to steer clear of her. It's a shame she is in this profession supposedly trying to help young women.

RUN!
I had her for the majority of my pregnancy. She lacks bedside manner, she's very unprofessional, uninformitive, and has no care in the world for her paients. I would never recommend even my worse enemy to her. I'm so greatful she wasn't on call when I had my baby. Needless to say I will be seeing someone else in the office from now on.

I’ve given Dr. Barakat more chances than she deserved and she won’t be getting anymore from me. No bedside manner and she is cold and disinterested. I saw her for most of my first pregnancy and by the 3rd trimester I was showing signs of pre-eclampsia and ended up being hospitalized and she was awful. When I was in the hospital trying to make it to 35 weeks for delivery she was beyond unprofessional and accusatory. She tried to make it seem as if I was exaggerating or faking my symptoms and asked me if I was “sure” I was having them. She also lectured me on the consequences of having my baby early and him being in the NICU. She also tried to scare me by talking about the magnesium drip post partum. She was so dismissive and almost scared me into changing my mind and leaving the hospital. Thank god I didn’t because I had severe pre-eclampsia and a placenta abruption which caused my son to go into distress. I saw her for an emergency appt for my current pregnancy and nothing has changed

The fact I have to give one star upsets me. I saw her towards the end of my pregnancy. First visit she was great. Sweet and seemed to be knowledgeable. After that it was a nightmare. I had to have weekly non stress tests due to advanced maternal age (otherwise my baby and I were a textbook pregnancy with no complications at all). I had my first non stress test in the office and my group B strep test the same time. She had me laying down bottomless on the exam table for 45 min with the non stress test belt on me. It took that long because the machine ran out of paper. And no one came in to check on me. She demanded I drive in a snow storm to MFM even tho I told her the baby was totally fine. She got very nasty to me and said it was an emergency. Almost died driving there when my car did a 360 in the snow/ice. Baby was 100% healthy and fine when I got there. That woman is a disgrace and incompetent and should not be practicing medicine.

Heartless
The first time I saw her post miscarriage she was nice, sharing her personal experience. The second time I saw her I was 30 weeks into my pregnancy and she coded my medical records as “complications in pregnancy due to obesity”. I have no complications. My bp is great, 117/75 and I don’t have gestational diabetes. My baby is healthy, she’s normal size, I’ve gained minimal weight. It’s just a lazy and unwarranted diagnosis. Don’t see her if your BMI is over 25.

Complete lack of care for her patients. I am insulted at how a doctor could be so insensitive and cold to her patients whom she delivered their babies for? There are so many doctors out there who actually care about their patients and their well-being - if you want that kind of calm, caring, kind, supportive relationship with your doctor, STAY FAR AWAY FROM BARAKAT!!! Basically left the office in tears from her harsh and uncaring treatment.

In our experience, Dr. Barakat lacks empathy and bed side manners. Instead of explaining the rationale and walking us through the process, she tries to push her opinion. It almost felt like she was using fear as a tool rather than logic and reasoning in an argumentative tone. Please listen to patient’s concerns and/or questions and answer in a friendly way (remember you are talking to pregnant women who are already dealing with a lot!), do not play rapid fire questions with patients and take time to explain the process (remember we are not doctors) and just show a little more empathy!

Dr. Barakat delivered my daughter and she was wonderful. I appreciated her help during labor. I have no complaints. If and when I have another baby I would hope she would be the one delivering them as well!

She knew my history of cancer and yet took 4 biopsies and did not get back to me as soon as the results came in. I was told she left for the day. (on a Friday right before a weekend) If the receptionist did not provide me with the results I think I would have gone out of my mind waiting until Monday. Definitely would have had a horrible weekend. Very inconsiderate and on top of it one of the biopsies she took did not have conclusive tissue for them to test. She never did call with the results.
