Dr. Leila Ettefagh, MD

Not only did I have to wait two hours in the waiting room, I had to wait another 25 minutes in the patient room for Dr. Ettafefagh. No apology or explanation from her. She proceeded with a short 3 minute check of my body for any signs of cancer. She asked if I had face makeup on, and I said just a little. She was rude and responded, ”Well, you have on a lot more on than I do!” After the short 3 minute check, she said she found nothing. I pointed out an area of concern, and she went ahead and biopsied it. Three months later I receive a letter saying I had Basel Cell Carcinoma! It took 3 months to hear this news. No phone call from her or her office (Island Dermatology). My appointment was on April 24 and the letter they sent was dated July 9th, which I did not receive until July 18. When I called upset, I was told I had been called. This was a lie, because I have an answer machine on the phone number had they called. I will never to back to her or Island Dermatology again.

I have been going to Dr. Ettefagh for over 5 years. She always asks if I am concerned about anything. She always takes time to explain everything she is doing. Also her office staff is excellent. I never experienced anything like what some of the reviewers complained about.

This office is the worst. When I arrived on time, the office appeared to be in chaos mode. Loud chatter in the reception area & the girls behind the plastic barrier were cold & curt, no eye contact & they acted as if they were annoyed with everyone showing up. I waited over 45 min. to get in to see the doctor. Then when I did see the doctor, she said, ‘we can’t do anything with your issue at this time, you’ll have to see an optometrist. The optometrist will have the right tools & would be able to better handle this. I will have to refer you to an optometrist’. Then she tried to sell me on other services they provide and sent me to the check out desk. The checkout girl was super rude & could care less about customer service. The first thing she did was ask me if I wanted to make another appointment now or call back and before I could even answer her, she told me I had a co-pay of $50, for doing absolutely nothing. When this horrible ordeal was over, & I arrived at my car in the parking garage it was 12:00pm – I spent an hour & fifteen minutes & fifty dollars on absolutely nothing. DO NOT go to this office.

Besides being a rush to get me in and out, during the exam she mentioned about removing a skin barnacle. I asked her what that is. She ignored me. When I asked a second time she told me to ‘google it’ and the ask her if I had any questions.

Dr Ettefagh is a very self absorbed Doctor. She has made me wait in her office sometimes for more than 15 minutes. When I showed up literally 5 minutes late one visit, but there was a patient in front of me who would not get away from the window. So I was clocked in at 11 minutes late. When I got into the treatment room I was told that Ettefagh would not see me but I could see another doctor. I was infuriated especially since the appointment card I had was for the day before. I went the day before through no fault of mine and she would not see me that day either. My time is valuable also. I will never go back there. Agreed this office is so rude!!!

My experience with Dr. Ettefagh was extremely negative. I was looking forward to my appointment with Leila. However, the doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me and as another review mentioned before, she did not give me a chance to even discuss my concerns of why I had came to her office in the first place. She already had one foot out the door. I was shocked. I asked the staff as I was paying my co-pay my question to ask her and I was told I would receive a call. I never received that call. I will never be going back to Dr. Ettefagh. She also forgot to write down one of the prescription medications she had suggested....that’s how rushed and unimportant I seemed to have been. I also did not appreciate the office had no hand sanitizers available during a pandemic. Overall worst doctors experience to date.

My wife and I waited an hour after her appointment to see the doctor. Instead of being apologetic she was very dismissive instead of apologizing to us.

Dr Ettefagh is a caring and excellent dermatologist. She is always does a thorough scan of my body and has discovered cancers that many others would have missed. I feel fortunate to have her as my doctor.

I had the same experience as a previous reviewer - I was 15 minutes late and after waiting an hour, staff still wouldn’t give me an idea of how much longer I would have to wait. I left and won’t return to this office. I don’t make a habit of being late for appointments, but sometimes it happens. The wait and attitude seemed punitive.

Always very pleasant, knowledgeable and explains issues. Also, fantastic shoe collection.

I left this practice because the staff was extremely rude. If you are late to an appointment 5-10 minutes they look at you like you committed a crime and now the wait time will be 45- 1 hour for your delinquency. Also, they informed me about a bill that was outstanding for an insignificant amount past due 30 days, and would not let me see the doctor without paying for it upfront. I prefer to pay with my HSA, which I was planning to do, but they were so rude I walked out of office.

Very rude doctor. Does not want to wait to hear your problems and tells me not to say anything and only hear her. Once she is done speaking she leaves the room and does not wait to hear me speak. If you want a doctor who you can talk to and explain your situation do not go to her.

She is thorough in examining my skin with its many moles for precancerous growth. I particularly appreciate that she does not try to sell me beauty treatments.
