Dr. Lawrence Specht, MD

We had an appointment today with Dr. Specht. We walk in, and they ask us for a name. I give my mother's name, and they tell me to sit. After about a half an hour, I went over and asked what is delay. They asked my name, and looked at schedule. Then, she told me that I was not registered. That I had to go down to lower level and register. Uh, that's fine. But perhaps you (or the other two) could have told me that. But it doesn't end there boys and girls. When I went in the back with my mother to get xrays, a woman came over and said that I could not be seen without my mother's medicare card and that so and so was asking for it. What? I suggested perhaps so and so could have asked me for the card. In my opinion, this is just incompetence. As I do not work there and it's my first time, someone should be telling us what to do!!! I don't have a half hour to waste because, in my opinion, you cannot do your job right.

He repeatedly failed my mom. He operated on her 4 times and could not get it right. Horrible bedside manner. When the rod broke in her knee, he told her repeatedly that it wasn’t broken and it was all in her head! He told her to see a psychiatrist! That is when I had enough and called the top surgeon in Boston. She had a successful surgery today and her rod was replaced. Surprise, it WAS broken all along. He is a complete failure and couldn’t own up to it!

Here for second opinion in same office, he came in with an attitude, not professional, down played my complaint & said that his X-rays were better then my MRI disc , WHAT???? Total waste of my time , Very disappointed with this physician and his colleague At LAHEY Orthopedics , Going back to my original Orthopedic Doctor who according to health grades is a 5 star , why did I seek a second and third opinion at LAHEY orthopedic, shame on me , DON T GO !!!

Long ago buried (in archives) surgical procedure history, there was considerable medical imaging and supporting data. Dr Specht asked for retrieval of all detailed comprehensive historical medical imaging data. After considerable time consuming arduous effort on the part of many {including the patient and professionals} in gathering the imaging data, it was delivered via Fedex to Dr Specht. It became blatantly clear and evident that Dr Specht was manifestly unfamiliar with (had not bothered to look at) the data. He had ignored it, failed to expend any effort in recognizing and reviewing the data. Then issued a criticism for our failure to deliver the data, the absence of data and reiterated a request for the same data again.

Anterior hip replacement for me in May 2020, due to an accident. I had to have emergency surgery so no chance to pick a surgeon. The surgery went extremely well and I was walking with only low level, highly tolerable , ache the next day. I am 73 years old. I did feel that his preop visit and discussion with me was quite quick, rushed and matter of fact. However, matter of fact is fine w/me if the doc has history and ability to do a good job. Will followup on this in 6 months with a further comment.

Terrible manner. Did not take the time to listen to our questions, felt rushed.

Dr. Specht did a anterior hip replacement for me in April 2015. Operation went perfect and I was walking in four days, 17 months later all is good. Great Doctor and staff at Lahey Burlington.
