Dr. Laurie Gerstein, MD

I saw Dr Gerstein for the first time when she worked at Thomas Jefferson Hospital 22 years ago. She agreed to see me within days of my call. I wasn’t a patient of hers, but she was recommended by a friend. I had pain (from a fibroid tumor) and needed immediate attention. Without knowing me, she worked me into her schedule right away. I needed a hysterectomy which she performed most competently days later. She was the most attentive and understanding doctor I have ever met. She patiently explained the procedure to me and relieved any anxiety I had. I have had no gynecological issues for 22 years. She was like an angel that came into my life when I needed one. Although I never saw her again after my recovery, I will never forget her and am forever grateful that our paths crossed when she was in Philadelphia. Doyestown is lucky to have her.

I had been a patient of Dr Gerstein for at least 10 years . The one major issue that I had 5 years ago ended with surgery and when I first complained of the pain I felt was not taken as seriously as I could of been . Recently when I was experiencing the same pain and went for two sick appts there was no urgency on her side to resolve it . I have recently switched Dr ‘s and had the situation resolved immediately . Drs have a very difficult job and in this post pandemic environment I cannot imagine all patients are easy, people seem angry . I want this to review to be more about being an advocate for ur own health and trusting ur body. If you are in pain and not getting answers keep pushing forward to make sure u get it resolved .

I recently moved to this area. Dr. Gerstein was recommended by a neighbor. It took a while to get the first appointment since I was a new patient. I usually do not write reviews, however I hope Dr. Gerstein or her office conveys this to her. I found her exceptional. She listened to every word I said, answered with knowledge and compassion. (Went way beyond how most Doctors treat their patients). During each step of the exam, she explained what she was doing, the results of her findings in a clear, gentle way. I left the office knowing I was in good hands. Really what more can you expect from a Doctor.

I had an excellent experience with this practice and Dr. Gerstein. It was my first appointment with her and I found her to be attentive and informative. She was sensitive to my needs which made the exam only mildly uncomfortable rather than painful as it has been with other doctors. The waiting room was empty when I entered and left, the office staff were very considerate, and despite arriving early, the staff saw me promptly. The office is located in a complex where there is no difficulty with parking.

I have seen Dr. Gerstein for the past several years and she is, in a word, amazing. She is always so kind and considerate. When I come into the office I am seen quickly and am not left waiting for the doctor, which is something I have found happens often at other doctors. When she comes into the room, she does not rush out like others do and truly cares that all of my questions and concerns are answered without being belittling or condescending. I had an IUD placement after a long battle with different birth controls, she was extremely thorough and took the time to make sure I was comfortable and it was one of the best choices I made. I cannot recommend her enough. Plus, the staff is also extremely thorough and very kind!

I came to my appointment with Dr. Gerstein wanting to talk about a condition I think I may have due to my symptoms and risk factors. When I presented my symptoms, it was clear from her face that she was not listening. She then proceeded to tell me that since she had just met me, she couldn’t be sure of my symptoms (which I had just laid out for her). My symptoms affect my life every single day. Dr. Gertsetin told me that she didn’t want to run tests because most times they come back negative. She told me there was really nothing she could do for me and was all together dismissive and belittling. It was not until I started crying that she began to listen even a little. Even then, I felt she was just appeasing me and ordered a test we both knew would not detect my suspected issue. This appointment made me feel ashamed and apprehensive of ever bringing the issue up again with someone else. I not understand why Dr. Gerstein is in this profession if she has no intention of helping others.

Dismissive and condescending. Clearly did not care in the least about me or my concerns.

The doctor shows no warmth nor compassion, intensely pressured me to continue with a painful procedure after I said I wanted to stop.

I left my tubal ligation with no pain relief whatsoever. I also received no follow up call to see how I was doing.
