Dr. Bully with no empathy
I was gaslit and treated like I was just there seeking pain meds. She kept insisting that I take a medication for my pain and the medication has since been taken off the market because of side effects including death. She acted like I was wasting her time and refused to get to the bottom of my pain. Fast forears I've been diagnosed by a specialist with an autoimmune disease. Actually two of them. Simon was so busy denying me care that she missed my conditions. I do not recommend her if you need to be treated for anything chronic. She doesn't have the patience or time to waste on your problems. Her bedside manner is terrible.

Do Not recommend Dr Laurel,Simon
Dr Simon asked me to have some tests done (in her office building) and then make an appointment to go over the test results with her. I did the tests, returned to see her, and she could not find the test results. So she said I had not done the tests, even though her office said the tests were done a and they billed me for the tests. Also I told Dr Simon there was a medicine I was allergic to, so she said she would order an alternative medicine. When I went to pick up my prescription, it was the mediciine I am allergic to. I never went back to see Dr Simon. I recommend you find a different doctor.

Awful.
Dr. Simon was my doctor years ago and I'm still appalled at her behavior. She treated me like I was an annoyance, like she was annoyed I actually showed up for my scheduled appointment. I quickly learned to suppress any questions or medical concerns I had simply because I didn't want to annoy her further. I finally decided I'd had enough after a particularly insensitively executed procedure that left me in tears. She's awful, and I frankly feel validated by the number of people who share this opinion.

Ignored my concerns, treated like a nuisance
I had seen Dr. Simon a couple years ago, and since I had, I was able to make an appointment with her quicker than any other office in the city (still one month wait). I made the appointment because I was going to run out of a prescription for medication that I was prescribed for my anxiety, but I had many other things to talk about. Dr. Simon made a troubling noise in response when I said I had been prescribed that medication, and when I said that I didn't think it was working for me and that I wanted to try something different and speak to a psychiatrist she said they wouldn't be interested in helping me and asked if I wanted to up my dosage. I was confused because I said it wasn't working for my symptoms and I didn't think I was taking the right combination of medicine. She also completely ignored me talking about other health problems I have that affect my day to day life. I don't know when I'll be able to see a doctor again but I feel defeated and humiliated by this experience.

Annoyed at my existence
She seemed annoyed that I came to see her. She's impatient, brusque, and irritable. Awful experience.

Questioned my lifelong, and accurate previous diagnosis, from multiple Drs, on our 1st visit.Gas lit me on my invisible disability. Challenged me on how bad it is. Refused to do my annual pelvic exam, when establishing care. Not friendly. Seemed mad at me, for coming to her. Was an hour late to our 1st appointment to establish care. Told me I would need another 1st appointment that this was just a referral. She's cashing in and wants to bill me 2x for the establishing appointment by making me do it again. Seemed deeply annoyed that I had more than one issue, and had several issues and concerns. Said she would order tests and set up a second appointment, did not. Then I read these reviews. Health Care. You have to care. Not kind to people on govt healthcare. Biased against patients younger than she is, who aren't working, while she has to work.

Dr. Simon focused on my physical health condition. I had a hard time believing her diagnosis. I sought a second opinion that confirmed her diagnosis. I respect her kindness when she gave me bad news. Dr. Simon's early diagnosis gave me the opportunity to fight and defeat my disease. If you want a doctor that cares about your health Dr. Simon will always be there for you. The truth isn't always warm and fuzzy.

Dr. Simon has done an excellent job as my primary care physician since I moved to Portland in 1998. She has been especially good at investigating and coordinating treatment of health issues as soon as they arise.

I have been looking for an internist in Portland and I wanted to see Dr. Simon because I thought her credentials were excellent. I was very favorably impressed with my initial appointment with her. She is attentive, affable, and straightforward--and smart. She listens well and explains things well in a business-like but comfortable and unhurried manner. I am very happy to have found her as a regular physician.
