Choate - Old school, old ways, outdated 'care'
Old school, old ways, outdated care. That’s Dr. Lawrence Choate in a nutshell. In 2016-2017, at my most vulnerable, he was instrumental in delaying my care, treating me with disrespect, dismissal, and a level of indifference that no suffering patient should ever endure. Rather than investigating my severe and unexplained health crisis, Choate latched onto a single diagnosis without real evidence and prescribed a quarterly chemo pill, insisting that if I didn’t agree by my next visit, he’d fire me as a patient for noncompliance. And that’s exactly what he did.Rather than helping me find real answers, Choate left me without medical care for over two months, forcing me to drive two hours to another county for help. His reasoning? Control, arrogance, and a rigid mindset that had no place in modern medicine. His reputation speaks for itself—a man embittered by his own failures, clinging to outdated, one-size-fits-all treatments, while ignoring real patient needs. His sidekick, Dr. Matt

Incompetent !!!!
He has CAUSED more health issues for my Mom than he has helped her !!! MAYBE he was a good Dr. 20 years ago when my Mom started going to him , but he sure isn't now!! If you value your health, DO NOT see this Doctor! If I could give him zero stars , I would

I love Dr. Choate. He is the only Dr. to identify a problem I had. He referred me for proper testing and referred me to proper specialists. He is very caring and gives me all the time I need and answers all my questions. What more could a person ask from a Dr.? I love his personality too!

If you like a subjective opinion then he is the one for you. In my opinion he has poor bedside manners, is closed minded and has little patience. He told me during my first appointment with him that opioids CAUSE pain and he knows this from what he said the CDC reported. Plus he used to be an avid jogger so he knows pain as well as anyone. On my second visit he referred me to physical therapy and when the therapist submitted an order for an assisted device (brace), it took him over a month to reply. I had to postpone, then cancel, all further PT appointments until he did respond. His response: I needed another appointment with him first. I did not make a third appointment. Unless you’re desperate find someone else. This is my opinion of course. We took my mother in law to see him a few times. She was new to the area and needed a Primary Care Physician fast so we tried him. After a couple of months and 4 or 5 appointments we found a new provider. Mom was thrilled about this

I couldn’t be more pleased with Dr Choate and his staff-they listen, are helpful and get my prescriptions filled promptly. Dr Choate personally spends time answering my questions on each visit.I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Choate has been the absolute worst doctor I have ever seen, mind you I have a rare autoimmune disorder so I have seen LOTS of doctors. I have never been treated with such disrespect and disregard for my health. I could absolutely NEVER in good conscious recommend him as a provider for anyone. He has yelled at me numerous time, many of which was him yelling at me to stop crying, he treats you like you have no clue about anything in the world, talks down to you and blames you for all of your health related problems. Even after being sent to OHSU for 2 months, labs, imaging and the specialist on my care team provided copious amount of proof of my health conditions, he still claims that there is nothing wrong with me, the other doctors "do not know what they are talking about". The sheer amount of unprofessional and down right cruel treatment by him is astonishing. I now have a new provider. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not put yourself through this, there are other options!

On getting labs looked at they have been back for 3 days and still not looked at by the doctor. So I guess I'm still playing a waiting game. Also have something else pop up medically and he hasn't even read that note to see if I need to be seen sooner then later. I had written a good review for this clinic which was how a felt at that time ,however a little concerned about rather he cares about patients or not.

Natosha in Roseburg – Aug 31, 2018
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Choate?
Started yelling at me when he walked in the door. I had given my med list from previous Dr. to nurse and he was yelling because I had listed Tramadol as a PRN med I was prescribed told me it was against the law. Never discussed a single issue I was having. Complete hostility the entire visit over one med. Told me I wouldn't be allowed to see any other Dr. in that city because of it. Did not wash his hands when asked why he said there wasn't time in the day. Nurse did not wash hands either.

With tests being done and showing an issue he still tells you nothing is wrong. At one point even told me that I am to get use to living in misery.

I have been in to see Choate on several occasions and every time I'm treated like an inconvenience. He acts like I'm an idiot who doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about with my body, what kind of doctor does that. I will never recommend him to anyone I know.
