Dr. Laura Aguilar, DO

Dr Aguilar is very kind and good communication for all my questions.

Laura Aguilar did not listen very well when presenting a new issue that my daughter was experiencing. She proceeded to suggest that my daughter might be "trying to get out of school" and making her issue up. She then asked if anyone is bullying her. My 11-year-old daughter was upset and me, her mom, even more so. My daughter does not have a history to support false alarms or crying wolf. I was the one holding her hair back during her episodes of illness. Thankfully, we quickly found another doctor who took her complaints seriously and provided care.

A family member of mine recently saw Laura was discussing the topic of their weight with her. Laura approached the topic with absolutely no sensitivity, and spoke in a demeaning tone. She then told them that they should weight xxx pounds (a completely unreasonable weight for someone their age and height). When they responded in shock “really, xxx???” Laura respond, “well something like that, it was just off the top of my head”. She then gave them the least specific and most unhelpful, advice that was “just eat healthier” after they had already explained they were putting lots of effort into a clean diet. The way my family member felt after leaving that office was the way no person should ever feel because of how their doctor spoke to them. The way Laura spoke to them was the exact language that can trigger an eating disorder. Not did Laura weight shame my family member, but in addition provided no medical help or advice.
