Agreed with all the other ratings:HE IS The Doctor (and he will let you know that with ANY questions you have) -Poor bedside manner-Prescribes drugs that were unaffordable despite knowing that I retired, on a fixed income-No check ins or follow ups for almost 6 months-Basically had to beg for service from this “Dr.” -Responses to inquiry or anything beyond his proposed treatment plan are ‘i’m so sorry’ when he’s actually not or ‘find a new doctor’ -nurses were as helpful as they could beI would say don’t quite your day job but he actually should -the absolute WORST medical so called professional ever experienced

Taking His Advice to Find a New Doctor – Oct 11, 2024

Dude said “I don’t care what you think I don’t need you as a patient” when I was telling him when he asked me about my medical history highly unprofessional and arrogant I thought since he was from u of m he would be kind, professional and smart. Highly messed up and surprised he is doctor because the neurology team of u of m is known to be good.

Excellent. Finally my headaches are better after months of misery. Very personable and made sure I knew exactly what I should be doing. He spent much time with me and did a complete work up that took more than an hour. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Finally got migraine relief after 40 years
He was the first dr. I have worked with who wasn't just masking the symptoms or making me try other drugs that had severe side effects. He took the time to work with me through the process to get approved for btx injections (life changing) and to find the appropriate emergency relief medicine that didn't cause side effects . Previous doctors had me relying on Imitrex injections so much that I ended up with a SCAD heart attack due to overuse of Triptans. Dr. Charleston is personable and makes conversation and doesn't seem to be in a rush.

Reading these negative reviews is almost shocking. Every visit that I had with Dr. Charleston left me feeling like I was in good hands. My initial consultation lasted just over an hour, where he was incredibly thorough and asked a myriad of questions. He took very detailed notes (which were all noted in my EHR). He very clearly communicated a plan and ensured I understood everything that he covered. Each subsequent visit was just as thorough and lasted for at least 30 minutes. There were times where I admittedly hadn't followed the plan, and I noted them clearly. I wasn't chastised or talked "at" or made to feel bad, he just reiterated the importance of sticking as closely as I can to what we'd agreed on. Oh, and the plan actually brought me some relief. Not initially, but I stuck to it and there has been a noticeable change in my headache frequency. Obviously, everyone has different expectations of a physician, but I couldn't be happier with him as a neurologist.

I would leave less than one star, what others have said about him is very accurate, he is horrible, made me cry threatened me because I took tylenol, said he couldn't continue seeing me because I did not follow his plan yet it had been months of the office not putting a prior auth in for (his med He had ordered) left with no migraine meds and in massive pain while he loudly scorned me for causing my own pain by not obeying his orders. Talks loud has no patience and shouldn't have patients

Not very personable, talks AT you, not TO you. Doesn't take time to actually listen to what you have to say. A little demanding, and if it is not going his way, gets upset with you as if it is your fault. Not willing to see things from your perspective. Overall not someone I would recommend with pain, because he doesn't fully understand what your going through nor will he take the time to listen.

Dr. Charleston is not able to be worked with. He considers it a discussion when he does all the talking. Does not establish any kind of back and forth with the person in need nor does he value the patient's input or their decisions.
