Amazing dermatologist!
I went to her for a general skin check and no specific concerns. She found a tiny spot and removed it during that same visit. It turned out to be a melanoma. As far as I’m concerned she saved my life! I can’t recommend her enough!!! If I could I’d give her 1000 stars!

Not a review of the doctor
My review is of the physician office, as I did not get to see the MD. I had appointment scheduled and received the text to confirm. I accidentally hit 2 (cancel) and immediately recognized my error. I contacted the office right then and spoke with the receptionist. I explained what I had done and she confirmed by appointment on the phone. I knew it had not been filled as it was immediate phone call. Today I drove 30 minutes and arrived 20 minutes early (there was a noted 10 minute only grace for late patients). I was told upon arrival my appointment had been canceled by text. I explained that was correct and that I had spoken with the reception and she confirmed the appointment for me. The response was 'yeah, I don't know.' I left without any offer to see the MD or even reschedule. Needless to say Dr. Theunissen might be fantastic, but cannot recommend office for this reason.

Dr. Theunissen always seemed very dismissive of my concerns so I eventually stopped going there. Also, they seemed offended by me seeing another Dr. I couldn’t get in for an appointment as quickly as I wanted so I went to another Dr. I later called to schedule an appointment with her and the nurse told me that they can see that I went to another doctor and asked why I didn’t come there. I told her I called but they couldn’t see me quickly so I found a Dr who could. The nurse then tells me they could have seen me and treated the same issue and I should have come there. I felt like she was trying to shame me for going to another Dr. and said a few times that she can she all of my information, who I went to, and what I was treated for. It was the weirdest conversation especially since I’m fully aware of what they can see in the EMR system as I am a consultant and was on the team that implemented the EMR for all 3 organizations that share the same system.

I was often asked if I was on Medicaid when I called or checked in, I am not, never have been. Dr. Theunissen prescribed a foot cream and terbinafine pills for 30 days but mentioned it would be needed for 90 days. I was going out town and requested a refill, she refused without an appointment. I asked for enough to get me through the week long vacation and she said something like I shouldn't expect her to alter how she wants to treat me to convenience me and my schedule. She also said she wanted to make sure the medication was not affecting my liver. I came back for an appointment and she swabbed the skin on my feet even though I told her I had just put the cream on my feet not long before my appointment. She didn't do anything to check my liver or look at my nail bed. It really seemed like a meaningless appointment. I went to another Dr. who immediately could tell from my nail beds that I needed a full 90 day Rx and he said liver damage is extremely rare. Finally my feet are better.

I would not recommend Dr. Theunissen. I took my 5 ye old daughter to her for a visit. We were in her office less than 5 minutes. I felt very rushed and she didn't seem to care. I will not return to her for another visit.
