Dr. Kunal Mehta, MD

Have been going to Dr Mehta for several years now. He is the most compassionate, caring, doctor. Always answers messages immediately, professional,and courteous. Would highly recommend for healthcare.

Dr Mehta has been my Doctor since 2016. He is kind, compassionate and above and beyond. I am extremely comfortable with him and thus, don’t hide any and all feelings, conditions, traumas etc., because I believe in wholistic. It was his gentle approach on a Telehealth July 2023 that gave me strength to begin a diet on my own. In 11 months about thirty pounds but when I plateaued & got discouraged and wrote on my chart, he promptly responds keep up the good work, give it another couple of weeks and let me know. He was the only one I reached out to when covid hit me July 2022 and Dec 22, 2023, with the first being very difficult. My blood work was slightly off last month but he looked at me in entirely of mind, body and soul because just three weeks prior someone my age, closer than some family died in sleep while living & functioning a normal life. I feel traumatized and he listened, we had an in person appointment after couple years. I was reassured. He is a ten star doctor! BEST

This is someone who will help you manage your diabetes without sounding judgmental. He is always available, or someone else is covering for him, through the NYU Langone patient portal. He almost always gets back to me within 24 hours if I have a question or need a new prescription refill. He also does Tela Health video conferencing, if I’m out of town or sick. I really like his low key manner. He’s not rushed, he listens, and he works with you.

Dr. Mehta is personable, empathetic, knowledgeable and a great doctor from personal experience. I trust him to treat not only me but recommend him to friends and family. I am actually shocked to see negative comments about him here, as I have never felt not listened to and never felt that he did not address my problems.

The most disrespectful, incompetent & just all around terrible doctor I have EVER been too. Will treat you like you’re stupid and that you’re lying about taking your medications. The first time I met him he tried to encourage me to have my thyroid removed because I’m 30 and I can’t take my medication while pregnant. Not once did I mention I was planning to have a family. If I had gone through with having my thyroid removed I would be on medications to regulate my body my entire life meanwhile I’m currently in remission from my autoimmune disease so clearly thyroid removal wasn’t necessary. When I brought up concerns to him about my medication being too high he ignored me for 6 months until I yelled at him because my fatigue (and other symptoms) had become unbearable. Instead of lowering my medications he insisted I had another autoimmune disorder causing my symptoms. First he told me I had PCOS, then a brain tumor, then told me I for sure had Lupus. Made a new patient appointment with Dr. Mehta. He was booked out almost 60 days, but I was willing to wait, since he came recommended by my GP. However, several weeks after scheduling the appointment, and having my records sent from my former endocrinologist, I received a voicemail from his office, saying that my appointment needs to be canceled because he is going on vacation the week of December 3rd. When I called to reschedule the appointment, the person I spoke with said I was never booked with Dr. Mehta, but with Dr. Paras, who is leaving the practice. She did not have my correct insurance info in the system either, even though I had taken the time to provide all insurance info on my first call. She offered me a 1/31/20 appointment, but could not verify that my insurance would be accepted (Dr. Mehta is listed as an in-network provider on Aetna's website btw) and seemed generally unhelpful. Doctor Mehta is very knowledgeable, compassionate, great bedside manner. No doctor before him was able to treat my thyroid disease symptoms. Always answers my phone call questions, and always calls next day with blood test results. I'm very happy I found him. I referred my sister to him as well. Waiting time is minimal, office is clean. Katherine at entrance` front desk welcomes you with a smile, kindness and compassion. Ava the assistant is very efficient, personable, warm and compassionate. Dr. Mehta was thorough, and patient. He took the time to address all of my concerns, and ordered additional blood work to figure out what was going on. From that, he was able to diagnose. Previous doctors I had went to never ordered those type of tests, and never had any answers for me. Highly recommend him!

Excellent diagnostics and compassionate individual. Helped me lose over 115 lbs. and straighten out my thyroid issues. World class care, seamless communications.

Extremely knowledgeable doctor. He is so kind and he make you feel that he is paying complete attention to your every word. He takes his time when talking to you. I am a very nervous person when it comes to doctor visits, but Dr. Mehta is very easy to speak to, very knowledgeable, and even called me himself just to give me lab results. I strongly recommend him!

I would recommend Dr. Mehta to anyone. He is very knowledgeable, very nice, very professional, caring, ... the list goes on and on of all the good stuff i have to say about him. Thanks to him I am cured from Cushing's disease tumor free and I owe all to him. knowing what I have just by my symptoms and examination where other doctors i saw prior were clueless. A man of knowledge, empathy, patience and compassion. He LISTENS attentively and works with the patient as much as he can to make well, even the most stubborn! Dr. Mehta does not treat just the disease but the entire patient! Not treated like a number or just another person in the day at the office. I am not thrilled about being in this situation but if you have to be here, there isn't anyone I would trust more! He gives us hope in a medical profession that is suffering in this 21 century

I had a change in health care provider and was hoping to get a doctor who would explain my blood work readings and find the proper medication and dose to keep my hyperthyroidism on par. Dr. Mehta, has done a tremendous job sorting out a game plan that works and keeps me feeling great!

Dr. Mehta is one in a million. Rarely do you find a doctor that will take the time to go over all the details until you understand all that is involved with your treatment. We could use more doctors like him in the field.

I found the doctor to be somewhat cold, not receptive to questions, most of which needed to be repeated several times before I got a clear answer. He was not at all engaging, nor did he appear to be very interested in my concerns.
