Invalidating
No compassion, didn’t listen and invalidated my concerns and issues. Crying in the appointment, and he stated I couldn’t have ADHD because I was crying. I left feeling worse about myself than when I went in. Years later, my husband went to the practice and had him as well. Same experience- didn’t listen to all concerns, dismissed my husband’s feelings and concerns. Doesn’t care about reviews either. Told us straight out that it’s just patients not getting the meds they want, he doesn’t care about the reviews. He should really look at the issues listed- every other bad review I see has at least these comments: doesn’t listen, doesn’t explain conditions well. Maybe he should do some self reflection and work on those things that are common to all of the negative reviews.

Worst experience in my life
Very arrogant, rude, and insulting. Don't listen well, as I had to repeat myself several times, and he sat there and mistyped what I was saying anyway. Thank God it only took me two visits to determine he isn't good for me or many others as well. At this point, I'm not sure at all how he gets 5-star reviews, they must have been written by his family members and friends

DANGEROUS AND DISHONEST PROVIDER. STEER CLEAR
I will start by saying I’m a psych director and RN. I was told to call psych intake for my daughter and did. This “doctor” called us back. He changed her medications (doubled the dose of one), did not answer her questions. He rudely cut her off constantly or myself when trying to help interject and hung up on her. Our whole family witnessed it. Could he be worse? Oh yes. Much.I now have MULTIPLE northwestern staff literally calling me a liar and saying he didn’t call. The “professional” did not document calling or the medication change. She went into nasty and dangerous side effects from suddenly stopping her medication bc she ran out and nobody will fill it due to his lack of documentation. Her withdrawals still continue due to his negligence not only as a doctor, but as a human being. THIS MAN IS PURE UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCARING, DANGEROUS PERSON.I can’t believe northwestern employs crap like him.

Do not recommend
He seems to have a problem with stay at home moms. Told me if I actually worked maybe I wouldn't be depressed or anxious. Kept telling me to come back every 6 months even though meds required more monitoring than that. He does not listen. Is condescending and would not recommend.

Run. Do not book an appointment with him.
I was assigned Dr. Hasanat after my psychiatrist left the practice. He told me I was "too old" to be on my medication (I'm literally 27) and that my medication could effect my fertility (never mentioned having children). This was on a virtual visit. I then saw him in person where he refused to explain why a urine analysis was needed and what it was analyzing. He opened the door to the waiting room and (in front of other patients) told me to take the urine analysis. I refused, walked out, and filed a complaint. My appointment was also at 10:30 AM and he didn't even arrive at the office until 10:50. He did not respect my privacy, my time, or my concerns. I have been on medication for 20 years and I know what works for me. Dr. Hasanat is a disgrace to the medical community.

Dr Hasanat was dismissive and did not care on my opinion. I waited over 4 months for a psychiatrist. I established a PCP before that so I could just get an initial appointment. And this was such a disappointment. He wanted without question to have my parents come in, and when I asked him why that was necessary he said “I do not need to defend my choices with you”. As I sat in stunned silence, the staff looked sad for me. Dr Hasanat left and as he was walking in his office he said “bring in my next patient”. I’ve been through seven years of mental health treatment, worked with many amazing psychiatrists along the way. I’ve never been treated like this before. Dr Hasanat your disrespect and pride was apparent. I hope you learn to listen to your patients. 37 years of psychiatric service does not matter if you make your patients feel degraded.

Seek another psychiatrist. After our one and only appointment I actually felt worse about myself. He summarized what I said incorrectly, and oftentimes offensively. He then concluded to ask me what medication I want to take, rather than him telling me. There was a lot of awkward back and forth of him asking me to pick, and me responding that I'm not comfortable doing that since I'm not a doctor. He reluctantly selected a one, but gave me a paper with 8 different medications he wanted me to research so I could pick for myself. The medication he prescribed would have been $300 a month, and since he just picked one off of a list without critical selection I couldn't justify that cost. My pharmacist was appalled that he put the medication selection on me. Over the phone, he seemed very agitated that I didn't select a new medication for myself. Then, he said that he can't guarantee that the cost of the medication would be affordable for me, being pretty insulting.
