I had an emergency health issue and my spouse had an appointment with Dr. Burns the next day. As always with Novant Health they were willing to accommodate me.I took wife's appointment time and met Dr. Burns. He seemed to be very caring .Due to my symptoms we decided to stop about 6 of the medications I was on.He scheduled an appointment a month latter to see if stopping the meds was improving my health. The moment I walked in the appointment the Dr. went off the rails arguing. He acted in an aggressive manner. This was so unnecessary. We agreed on the subject. Dr Burns never gave me a chance to say anything and the appointment was a total waste.. I was in agreement with him. He just wouldn't allow any discussion. Now 6 weeks latter I'm still on half the meds that were prescribed. My Wife was a Novant Nurse for 40 years. She said that she had never seen anything so unprofessional from any health care provider. And NO I never want to see him again.

Horrifying The visit was horrifying! This MD has zero bedside manner, zero compassion, and zero capability of meeting patients where they are. He DOES NOT live up to the specific values of Novant health nor the medicalBoard. The lack of concern for the community is appalling. It seems there is a control complex between himself & his patients. His body habitus, heavy breathing, & lack of connection to himself or his patients shows that no amount of professional knowledge can ever define whether someone is healthy, can implement his own suggestions, or is in control or are aware of their own life or body. The whole episode is so frustrating when one goes into a doctor to advocate for their sick parent after exhausting all possibilities besides and ER visit, when the issues not an ER issues; its a lack or willingness to meet people where they are. Needless to say, I will be finding my parents a different Physician

Listens and asks lots of questions. Professional and personable. Seems to have excellent diagnostic skills. Very impressed with how fast he made things happen related to consults and testing to find out the appropriate diagnosis. Would highly recommend.

No Care Physician
I was a patient of Dr. Kevin Burns for one year, and I was deeply uncomfortable with my whole experience. I have asthma and I was exposed to smoke which caused a massive flare up, I hadn’t had symptoms that bad in ages so I had no inhaler. I was prescribed a strong steroid. When I came off the steroid in a couple days I had the most horrendous withdrawal symptoms. When I called in again they couldn’t fit me in and referred me out to a stomach specialist, because I had stomach distress. I was dumbfounded. That would’ve cost me hundreds of dollars and gotten me nowhere, I was sick because of the medication I was prescribed. The office never has any time for when you need them most. And my primary care physician is supposed to be the one who sees all my symptoms, all my medication, all my treatments and makes an informed decision for my health. He couldn’t even be bothered to look up the side effects of the steroid I was on. I felt uncomfortable and uncared for so I left.

I'm not sure how NovantHealth has a 4.8 for this doctor. I recently moved here and went to him as a primary care provider. That was a one and done! My wife felt the same way. He seems very arrogant and questioned my past doctor's care... before he even did blood work or a work up. He said he thought I was "overmedicated"... until the bloodwork came back. He then had the nerve to tell me I needed to lose weight. He's the pot calling the kettle black. I'll find someone else and I hope you do too.

I really liked Dr. Burns as my 28yo, special needs daughter's new MD. Great listener, thorough & even kinda funny! His nurse Lisa was exceptional with Maggie! Both Dr. Burns & Lisa were so respectful to Maggie & spoke to her so clearly & treated her like an adult (SO important to Mag) while choosing a vocab Mag could understand. I have found Maggie's new MD!

My 87 yr. old mother is a patient of Dr. Burns. I take her to all of her appts and he is the absolute worst. He acts as if he despises the sight of her and is very unsympathetic to the problems of the elderly. He rarely even attempts to treat any of her issues. His answer to every single complaint she has is a referral.

Dr. Burns had been great. He is the only doctor I’ve ever had to fully get my entire medical history and actually listen to me and send me to the specialists I needed. One of the best doctors I’ve had.

I visited Dr Burns 5 yrs ago for chronic migraines. He was very thorough and the blood work lead to a kidney cancer diagnosis. By going above and beyond the headaches, he literally saved my life. I followed him to WS and will not see another doctor.

Wish I could rate zero stars. Dr. Burns’ bedside manner includes a know-it-all attitude, arrogance, doesn’t listen to patient’s concerns/questions, will not address internal medicine issues. His answer to everything is a referral. I would not recommend him to anyone. Will be my first and last visit to him. Did not find the receptionist staff to be friendly or helpful either. Apparently the primary job requirement to work there is arrogance and poor patient service.

Has a cocky attitude toward patients. Offered no advice or suggestions on how to fix a serious problem my Dad was experiencing. And when he found out he was on pain medication for a back injury years ago, he blamed that medication on his problem. Needless to say he told my Dad he couldn't help him and we left. I see why he has bad reviews. Not impressed at all with him

I was a patient of Dr Burns for over a year when he was in High Point and I definitely do not recommend him at all. Forgot about a medication I was on that he prescribed even though I updated my current list of prescriptions every time I visited. Forgot who I was even though I was having multiple issues and had been to see him almost every month for a year. Zero stars is my actual recommendation. I now distrust doctors because of my experience.

Worst experience at the Doctor I have ever had! I struggle with anxiety and severe panic attacks. I recently moved to Winston and from my former doctor had just prescribed me a SSRI for a trial period of 2 months. I got busy and forgot to call to ask to be taken off b/c I didn't like it. I ended up severe withdrawal symptoms and didn't know what was happening. Dr. Burns kept accusing me of being a drug addict without asking any questions. He then refused to see me with a heart rate above 140.

Very kind, considerate, knowledgeable physician. I travel one hour and half just to see him. I saw him at one time then moved to another state when came back to NC I started to see him again. I trust him and his judgement. He explains what my complaint involves usually with written material. He gave me a card with his name and address on it so I can contact him easily if needed. I saw another MD while in VA and he pales in comparison to Dr Burns. Quick with refills, nice office staff.
