Sold out to a Medical Conglomerate???
He has been my PCP since the later 1980's. But times change, especially in the world of medical billing mills. So he has now seemingly become a pseudo sales rep for Highland Medical/Nyack Hospital and their associated doctors. Even after repeated requests not to, he keeps sending my bloodwork to Nyack Hospital instead of Labcorp (where I have my portal). Again, Nyack Hospital is where he gets his cut from. Even his referrals to other doctors are virtually all doctors of no particular distinction except being his fellow doctors at Nyack Hospital. Good/Bad medicine is a matter of long life or early death. Choose carefully when picking a doctor...even more so than you would a mechanic or a plumber. And if the doctor constantly goes against your requests, it's time to find one who listens better. Apparently for me, that is no longer Dr. Svensson! He simply displays disrespect for my own personal choice of health advocacy.

Fantastic
Sr. Svensson is caring, listens and very knowledgeable. His staff is kind and considerate. His nurses are wonderful even with hard to stick veins. I am grateful to have such a wonderful doctor.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr Svensson for 24 years, and have over the years consistently been pleased with the level of care we’ve received. Always professional, caring and honest. Good referrals. Could go on, but at end of day just want to say that we recommend his practice.

He's kind and polite, and his office staff is nice. But I have had some challenging health issues this past year, and I cannot honestly say that Dr. Svensson has been all that communicative or helpful in dealing with them. I've been to see him a handful of times. He seems to listen with one ear while typing his notes, he draws blood, and then sends me away with referrals to specialists. Meanwhile, I have seen SO many specialists by now, and they never talk to each other, and I've had this barrage of weirdly unrelated symptoms, so who is helping me coordinate my care and putting all the pieces together and looking at the whole picture and making sure things don't slip through the cracks? Shouldn't that be your PCP? I can't exactly say that Dr. Svensson has done that. He might be just fine for run-of-the-mill check-ups and referrals, but for challenging situations, I might advise going elsewhere. (Also, in times of Covid, a doctor should know how to wear a mask properly.)

Hes a really great guy. Cares and is honest. Long wait, but I found him somewhat worth it. Hes a better doctor than most but has his quirks. I see a female doctor now, she's really great. If I still lived in Nyack, I would probably still be a patient of his. Its true, he does like to draw blood and send you to specialist. Smart guy though, and he does care.

If you want a doctor who doesn't actually care about you or the reason that you are there and who doesn't know what codes to submit or how much blood to request the nurses draw, who is unprofessional then Svennson is your doctor. I went to him because I thought I had a UTI. I made sure to be the first patient to see him the day I went in. They told me to show up 15 minutes early to my appointment (I showed up 5). He walked into the office 10 minutes after I did. I was taken into the office and the (very nice) nurse did her part which took about 10 minutes. She left and said the doc would be right in. I could hear him on the other side of the door chatting it up with the nurses or whoever was out there. None of what they were talking about had to do with business as I could hear the entire conversation including laughter. This went on for about 10 minutes. At 9am (my appointment was at 8:30) I was still waiting. I opened the door and asked the nurses how much longer and t

Worst doctor ever – Dec 28, 2019
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Svensson?
I’m relatively new to Nyack and the s is exactly the kind of practice I appreciate: great nursing and aide staffing in support of a experienced genuine primary care physician - what we used to call a family doctor.. Dr Svenson treated me post-Lyme diagnosis at the local ER. But I was immediately comfortable discussing my 360 health picture as healthy 55 yea old woman acclimating to the inevitable changes that living brings! not fond of the corporate managed appt system .

I see Dr. Svensson for 24 years. Office personnel is better than before but communication between the doctor and the patient is a huge problem. information is not communicated effectively a to the patients or to the doctor, which could have devastating results. Perhaps it's time to look for a different practice, which i should have done long time ago.
