If I could give 0 stars I would. I saw Dr. Calamia in January of 2020 as part of my executive health exam. I’ve dealt with flares of mysterious symptoms for 20 plus years and just knew that I would finally get the help I needed at the Mayo Clinic. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The worst of those symptoms when I saw Dr. Calamia were shortness of breath and pain in my ribs. Dr Calamia spent very little time with me and decided it was fibromyalgia and handed me a pamphlet on their 2 week fibromyalgia clinic. All the while my labs showed a high rheumatoid factor. From there my health continued to deteriorate. I had rashes end bruising all over my body, extreme pain in my ribs and the shortness of breath was so bad that I couldn’t talk or get out of the bed. In April my husband drove me to the ER at Mayo because I couldn’t talk for feeling I would faint. The Er dismissed everything as fibromyalgia because my 02 was normal. I asked them for some other test to show I couldn’t

Paternalistic approach to care rather than patient centered. Took a personal call during an office visit to talk to Comcast. Runs late, doesn't take me or my questions seriously, gets my records mixed up. If you want a paternalistic doctor he's great. I'm trying to find a new Rheumatologist because I feel like I know more about my condition than he does.

Drove hours to see him with high hopes of getting some answer for my ongoing symptoms and pain that no one else seemed to be able to figure out and not only did he give me an answer he was also caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. I wasn’t rushed, he went over every piece of lab work with me and made me feel confident in his findings. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to be seen by such an amazing doctor.
