Perimenopause Uninformed
I saw Dr Hoch at 43 for help with pretty typical perimenopause symptoms. She would only consider prescribing antidepressants or hormonal birth control. I opted for the later which did regulate my periods but made me crazy, anxious, and depressed while I was on it. A few months ago I went to my local clinic (PCP) in Nederland. She listened carefully and wrote me a Rx for hormone replacement therapy. I feel like my old self again, physically and emotionally. I suggest Dr Hoch seek extensive, up to date training on menopause care. It's something everyone with a uterus will experience!

Best Doctor I Have Ever Had
Dr. Hoch delivered my daughter and was my doctor throughout my whole pregnancy. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was extremely knowledgeable and had a sense of calm about her that was everything I needed during my pregnancy. I hope to have all my babies with her!

Was dismissed about my pain
I went to her for unexplained vaginal pain. She did an exam and ultrasounds. Part of the exam was very painful. She remarked “that’s weird. It’s your ovaries but everything here looks normal.” The ultrasounds were normal so they told me, “Everything looks normal so there’s nothing else we can do.” Meanwhile I was still in pain. I got a second opinion from another OB who did the same exams but could tell almost immediately the pain I was having was bladder-related. She also found a rare growth on my urethra that had to be biopsied. I’m having to now go to a urologist to get that removed and figure out exactly what is going on with my bladder as well. For routine care, I had no problems with Dr. Hoch. But if you are in any pain, you will be dismissed and left in the dust if she can’t find anything wrong immediately. I’m also very concerned she totally missed the mass growing on my urethra.

I went to Dr. Hoch for the first time after my Gynecologist had retired. She made me feel at ease, and is really friendly, seems very knowledgeable, and her office staff was also very friendly. This was the first week in her new office, and they seemed to be on top of everything.

This review is ONLY for endometriosis/severe period patients. I went to Dr. Hoch for evaluation of my endometriosis. I was having difficulty breathing and severe chest pains every month and was worried I had endo in my diaphragm. She responded “that’s extremely rare” and told me it could not be removed even if found. She did not do a physical examination or ask further questions. She did not look for other explanations for my chest pain (which was debilitating causing me to miss work). My appointment was less than 10 minutes long. months later I had surgery with another doctor which found severe diaphragm and chest endo bleeding into my chest cavity which was causing my very real pain. That doc said he sees diaphragm endo in at least 5% of patients (NOT EXTREMELY RARE) and definitely not worth dismissing. The endo WAS successfully removed. If you need an endo doctor PLEASE do research and don’t just take the first OB/GYN who says they will operate on you or give you meds.

I saw Dr. Hoch at Boulder Foothills campus and absolutely loved her. There was a comfort level with her that I don't think I've had yet with another Boulder doctor. She's approachable, honest and compassionate - everything I'm looking for in a doctor! Thank you, Dr. Hoch!
