Do NOT let this man perform surgery on your child.
He performed surgery on my child in 2006 to lengthen her achilles and hamstrings, at our first visit after surgery her REFUSED to order physical therapy, she was SEVEN YEARS OLD!!!! She walks with more difficulty now than before she had the surgery! Her own pediatrician wanted her to have PT but could not go over him. He was just SO arrogant about letting her learn to walk on her own and now I have an adult with extreme anxiety that is terrified she is going to fall every time she leaves the house!

Dr. Rathjen preformed 2 scoliosis surgeries on me when I was 12 and 15. I am now 24 with absolutely NO problems. Dr. R spent an adequate amount of time with me at every pre-surgery and follow up appointment. My mom is a nurse and he would take the time to explain things on both her level and my level each visit. He even personally checked on me hourly throughout the night when the anesthesiologist had made a mistake with my epidural. I would without a doubt recommend him as a pediatric surgeon!
