Dr. Karin Lokensgard Pierce, MD

I saw Dr. Lokensgard when she worked at the University of Minnesota. At our appointment, she diagnosed me with possibly having an eating disorder. While her assessment was accurate and logical, she did it in such an abrupt way that I feel almost traumatized from that appointment. She gave this life-altering news in a way that felt very brusk, uncaring, and without regard to how I would feel about it. After telling me this, she arranged for a nurse to transport me to the mental health clinic (despite it being voluntary for me to even go) and made comments that implied I would not see my current therapist again, making a scary experience even worse. Good in terms of clinical knowledge, but avoid her if you want any sort of empathy or compassion in bedside manner.
