Dr Kanu Goyal, a SUPERB surgeon & physician
I have been with the doctors at the Hand & Upper Extremity Practice since 2009. I started with Dr Litts, then had Dr Ruff and now have Dr Goyal. I have never been more pleased than I have been since day 1 with these doctors. Dr Goyal has been so wonderful! Just like Dr Litts and Dr Ruff, before him, he absolutely takes his time and he listens! My care has progressed to where I don’t have to come back unless I need to. I will miss his smiles and the time he graciously gave me …EVERY visit! I always recommend him if I know a friend or acquaintance who needs the services of an excellent surgeon for issues with their hands!

A horrible visit with a rude Doctor who will rush
I have had problems ongoing for a while. Two visits to the ER recently. Problems from left fingers & thumb to neck. I was schedule quickly to this department, and assigned to Dr. Goyal. I wish I had never seen him. Both the nurse and the Doctor did not listen to the information my wife and I had made notes of. He cut me off several times, and most of the information we had was not placed in the record. He performed one test rushed, and lectured me twice about pain medication when I had asked for a pain remedy plan going forward. He made me out to be a Drug Addict. When I finally got a documented plan it was not placed in the record. I left feeling like I should take everything I was on and flush it down a toilet. My wife and I filed a formal complaint, but I feel like I never want to see a Doctor ever again. Dr. Goyal is now the ultimate horrible Doctor's visit of my life, nothing even comes close. He ignored most of what I said, and included maybe 25% of the information we had.

I presented this guy with inflammation at underside of thumb joint from repetitive use injury. He wanted to cut cut cut without any diagnostic imaging. He gave me a wrap he pulled out of his desk that was effectively a band-aid, literally. Sad joke. I went to cleveland clinic for second opinion...they diagnosed it (x-ray) as calcification that just needed ultrasound therapy to break up. And you don't even want to hear about Goyal's assistant....unbelievable. I wrote a one-page outline summary of the injury, how it developed, symptoms, etc. When I handed it to her, she leered at it and laughed at me for writing it. Then she wanted to test the range of motion...by forcefully bending my thumb and pumping it...excruciating pain! It blew up after that...swelled to 3X what it was. If you want a hack triage unit making your condition worse, IT'S ALL YOU!

Dr Goyal was extraordinary when I had a severe infectious disease spreading throughout my hand. He immediately provided the needed surgery. When my wound needed drained, although I was frightened and argumentative, he took the time and patience in order for me to trust him and therefore saved my infection from spreading.

I had excellent care from Dr Goyal and his staff!! In fact I have never been to an office on Friday at 5 pm that was so happy. I had surgery the next morning and I didn’t even need pain killers after about 3-4 days. Four weeks out my wrist is healing nicely and no splint needed unless I feel as though I need it protected!! All in all I felt like received excellent care from Dr Goyal and highly recommend his expertise and that of his office.

I broke my left wrist when I fell forward, tripping on a curb. The Resident in the OSU ER recommended Dr. Goyal saying HE would send family members to him. Since we were leaving on a trip in 10 days, I was very concerned about what to do. Before I could even call for an appointment, Dr Goyal's office called me with an immediate scheduled appointment. He spent a long time with my husband and me, explaining (and drawing) everything. I opted for surgery in two days. I have healed quickly. Happy!

Dr. Goyal was recommended by the Neurologist I was seeing at the Ohio State Health Network. I was very impressed by how professional and descriptive he was at explaining what surgery would do to help my hand and wrist challenges. As surgery was needed, Dr. Goyal and his operating room staff made me feel very comfortable the morning of the pre and post surgery. Him and his staff were most concerned as to any questions and follow up after surgery and the weeks afterwards. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Goyal is one of the very best if not the best physician I have experienced over my 67 years. And I speak as someone who has survived aggressie cancer, chronic gastric issues, and lifelong pulmonary concerns in addition to osteoarthritis in both hands. He excels not only as an expert medical clinician but shows sincere compassion, empathy, and concern for his patients. A very effective communicator, he generously invests time with patients to insure understanding of their medical condition.

I'm a local physician and when my elderly father (a retired physician) hurt his hand, I asked around to see who I should send him to. The overwhelming answer was Dr.Goyal at OSU. He was able to see my father quickly and diagnosed his injury and treated him conservatively. My father's injury healed well and he was very happy with his care.

The appointment was brief. I'd obviously already seen my primary care doctor. Placement of my IV had caused severe pain in my lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve. Dr. Goyal told me that there wasn't a nerve where I had my IV placed...but the placement is in the precise location of the nerve according to my GP & the hospital. No tests were ordered, which was the entire purpose of the visit. If lying, or that ignorant of basic anatomy is a mystery, but he certainly isn't a doctor to see for help.

He didn't listen. He acted as though I was crazy. Or as though what I was telling him was just not possible. Even though it clearly is. This made me not want to go back leaving me stuck with a problem and feeling mad and upset and not wanting to seek help any further. His resident though was very good , unfortunately he was silent once Doctor Goyal came in.
