Best Psychiatrist in the Area
Dr. Mahon is the most knowledgeable, professional, non judgmental and thorough Dr that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. She makes me feel safe and understood and never gives off the “I know better than you” vibe that most psychiatrists do. You can tell how much education she has on treatments and medications, and with her help, my quality of life has improved dramatically.

She is smarter than most neurologists
I see her for symptoms related to multiple concussions and she read my MRI and explained the damage that it showed when the neurologist told me it was nothing to be concerned about. She called that neurologist during my visit and they admitted that there was damage and it was disabling. She noted it and put it in my chart and that's the reason I was able to receive disability.

New Patient
I have had 2 visits with Dr. Mahon and have only very good experiences to let everyone know. She was extremely pleasant and took the time to listen to my issues and then began to directly diagnose me within a short time. My meds were called in quickly and the second appointment went just as smoothly. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs her help.

Should have her license revoked
Completely unprofessional and just plain whacky “doctor”. She likes to take new classes then decides that the meds I’ve been on since my 20’s for anxiety are no longer working, and wants to begin an immediate weaning even though I had no complaints about my meds! She talks about herself and her kids with their problems more than the patient. Her husband, who handles the billing and insurance, is pleasant enough, but also very rigid in his patient flexibility.Kanchon Mahon is frequently late is has little to zero regard of patient”s time, but if you are late, you’ll be chastised and scolded by both of them.GO ELSEWHERE. THIS PERSON IS A QUACK!

overprescribes and it's dangerous
i was overprescribed several controlled medications, for conditions she diagnosed within half a session, which i turned out to not have. these medications gave me very troubling side effects and had a negative impact on my life for over a year. she doesn't seem to care or truly try and work with patients to figure out what the true problem is.

What HASN'T Dr. Mahon done to help me? She is nothing short of amazing, attentive, flexible, patient, and understanding. I know so many people who have had to go from psychiatrist to psychiatrist trying to find someone who can really help them - thankfully my journey to find a mental health provider began and ended with Dr. Mahon's phenomenal care. I have personally met with so many doctors (especially in this area) who would brush off my concerns for years. I remember breaking down in one of my appointments telling my provider that I was severely depressed, and they simply told me I need to exercise more. I told doctors for YEARS that I had trouble with motivation and focus, and went misdiagnosed for so long. After I started seeing Dr. Mahon, the treatment she gave me and following her other recommendations has had me in the best mental space I have been in for years. I really can not thank her enough for everything she has done to support me and change my life for the better.

The things people say are insensitive and awful! It seems like they don’t know what professional work is like. I have been seeing Dr. Mahon for 12 years and she is an excellent psychiatrist. If has discussed other patients with me, it was to help me understand that I am not alone or for me to get better by hearing that they di. She’s very compassionate and truly cares about how I feel. She discusses all medication decisions with me, for which I am grateful. Previously, I have seen several other psychiatrists who seem to believe that they know everything about what is best for me without ever trying to get to know me. She really explained my choices of meds and helped me pick the ones I’ve tried. Stress, family issues and feeling like people are pushing me away seem to derail my mood or create anxiety, Dr M is quick to say that she doesn’t “do” the, but her advice is helpful and her concern about my well-being is real. I love our sessions, her manner is always very professional.

Initially she is energetic and seemed to be the perfect fit for me, which I was ecstatic about. However, that charm began to wear off about 15 minutes into the initial visit. The meetings seemed self-consumed and learned more about her than I believe she learned about me. Additionally not very professional in my opinion as she shared personal stories of other clients of hers and other psychiatrists in the area. She might be great for you but I couldn't get past these occurrences most times we spoke.

I had been a patient of Dr. Mahon for over two years. My first few appointments went well, she had prescribed me medications that helped my anxiety. Over the last year or so she started to increasingly talk about herself and other clients for hours on the phone. I felt like she was using me for therapy. Most times I had no idea what she was talking about and our conversations had nothing to do with me. She prescribed me thyroid medication without doing a full thyroid panel. Turns out, there is nothing wrong with my thyroid. Thankfully I did not take any medication that she prescribed for that. I do believe she is an intelligent person but maybe she has some issues of her own.

I think Dr. Mahon was one of the best psychiatrist I have ever met. Thanks Dr. Mahon, I am so sorry that people are blinded by their own prejudices that they write such nonsense. My wife and I both know what a caring person you are and we know how much help you really give to the people who come to you for help.

My visits with Dr. Mahon although started out well, ended horribly. It turned out I had an underlying medical condition as to why I was the way I was. She missed it and made me feel like there was something I was doing wrong or inappropriate. Ultimately she was incompetent.

I’ve been under the care of psychiatrists for the past 15 years. And I never had a more thorough doctor. She took the time to explain my diagnosis to me and my treatment options. She asked me about symptoms no other psychiatrist had ever bother ask about and she answered all my questions. Since I’ve been with Dr. Mahon I am no longer depressed and no more mood swings. I am more confident and my performance at work has improved so much that I got a promotion. Thank you Dr. Mahon.

Most unprofessional and unethical doctor I have ever been to. Started off well for about the first 4 visits, but her behavior became bizarre and she often made no sense. She talked more about herself and HER issues. I felt like she was using my appointment time to just talk her head off. So her diagnosis of MY conditions were not to be trusted any longer. She even talked badly about my other doctors, saying she didn’t like them. I actually feel traumatized more now than when I started seeing her due to some ways she treated me and I had to stop going to her. She definitely misdiagnosed me as she talked about herself so much I barely was able to talk ......how could she diagnose me accurately?? I do appreciate that her receptionist, who is her husband, was always really nice to me and always helpful. She even yelled at him in front of me. Awful.
