Dr. Justin Townsend, MD

Dr. Townsend is an excellent surgeon, focused and concentrated on his goal, which gets his patients better results.Chit chatting is not possible when you have limited time but you see plenty of qualify staff that explain the procedure and take excellent care of you, if you have a questions for Dr. Townsend he will answer with presicion.We are very grateful that God blessed us with Dr. Townsend. May his work always be excellent

Townsend was rude, arrogant, dismissive, and had abysmal communication skills. I would not recommend him to anyone. I will not return to him.

Maybe a decent eye specialist but ZERO empathy and no communication skills with patients. I have been seeing this doctor for quite a few years and noticed that he does not communicate well with patients. His consultations have always been extremely briefs and communication was limited to a bare minimum. I complained about this and last time I saw him, he told me bluntly that 'you have a Retinopathy induced by medications you took in the past, you are becoming blind, there is nothing I can do, and I will see you in two years'. I wished I could get more information about the evolution of this disease, including but not limited to how long I will be able drive, read, shop, and walk by myself. I have been trying to be reassign to another doctor specialized in retinae, each and every time I was told that someone will contact me. Today I found out that in order to be reassigned I have to get the blessing of M. Townsend's office, that never follows up on my request. I feel trapped.

He is awful. No bedside manner. He saw me for 2 mins, was rude and told me that be was ordering a follow-up visit for me where he would put a shot in my eye next time if needed d because he saw damage to my eye due to diabetes, then walked out taking his resident with him. This is my second similar experience with him. Bascom May have a great reputation but that was the worst medical experience I have ever had. Shame on him.

He knew exactly what was wrong with my eye.Very straight up what to do after surgery with a gas bubble in eye. How to sleep, what not to do. Would advertise anyone with retina problem to consult with him before it's to late. He is the best wish he was in my network of Doctors. Bascom Palmer University of Miami should be in all Insurance companies network. They weren't in mine but I couldn't risk going blind like my in network Doctor said if I didn't go to Bascom Palmer University of Miami so I went. Rather be in debt than blind. Had an emergency retinal tear laser surgery several years ago. Dr. Townsend was competent, thorough and I had no further complications. The only downside is he unfortunately has no personality, warmth or ‘bedside manner’ I have several friends who had the same experience with him.
