I am being treated for spinal stenosis and related issues. Dr is thorough, explains everything, and efficient. He is also kind and expresses empathy. Dr Thottam Is excellent physician, genuinely, caring , down to earth and warm. I felt I could trust his technical skill completely,,( I had 5 epidural injections) . I would and have , recommended him wholeheartedly . He is exceptional among other physicians that hardly remember you name.

He was extremely thorough in his physical examination. He would not address my knee which I am sure is partially tied to my back nerve issue and referred me to an orthopedic, which my CCF GP, who knows me well, had recommended against. My CCF GP had recommended a physiatrist for my knee. I recognize that this was my first visit with this doctor and he did not know that I am an active participant in my health or how active my exercise program has been. I wish more time had been spent trying to get me back to exercising without pain and what exercise movements I could continue with without exacerbating my back or knee. Also, I think an MRI may have been more revealing than an X-ray and if so and it was an insurance issue, I should have been given the option of paying for an MRI out of pocket. This view that patients are financially limited to their insurance is an interesting one. At least the option should have been given.
