Uncomfortable experience
Before my wisdom teeth removal surgery, Dr. Hyatt was dismissive and indifferent to my questions. Even if the wisdom teeth removal was a simple procedure, he did not provide much reassurance before the surgery. While the surgery went smoothly and my teeth healed, the interaction with Dr. Hyatt left me feeling slightly uncomfortable. Recently, a friend of mine had a similar uncomfortable experience during their oral consultation with Dr. Hyatt.

I would highly recommend Dr. HYATT he’s very professional. He is very quick with his procedures. He is one of the best dentist I’ve used for over 25 years. My husband uses him also. II recommend Dr. HYATT he is the best there is in Baltimore.

Not recommended
I consider him to be patronizing and aloof. The fee quoted was excessive and unreasonable imo. The treatment was declined and seen by another doctor

Wonderful doctor, highly recommend
I’ve seen Dr. Hyatt a few times for my wisdom teeth and every time I’ve seen him, my experience has been absolutely great. I first went to him for an emergency because I had an odontogenic cyst that was infected. While it wasn’t technically his department, he diagnosed it and removed it along with the wisdom tooth next to it. He was extremely professional and gave me references to get further care if it ever flared up again, but honestly, I haven’t had any problems. I saw him a year later to get the rest of my wisdom teeth out and I had a great experience. He was super professional, funny, and kind. He goes out of his way to make patients feel comfortable before, during, and after procedures. I called him multiple times to ask questions after my surgeries. He was prompt on getting back to me and even did a follow up after I had requested to make sure everything was good. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Hyatt as he has given me great care over the past couple of years. Thank you so much!

No pain at all during and after extraction
I have already removed two teeth with Dr. Julius Hyatt, and both experiences exceed my expectations. Specially w/ my second extraction (teeth #18), I didn’t feel any pain at all (during and after procedure). After two good dental surgeries experiences w/ Dr Hyatt, I had no doubt that I wanted to do my dental implants with him. Six months ago he placed my first implant with great success, and next week I have an appointment scheduled for the second Implant. Dr Hyatt has the knowledge (excellent CV), and strong-stable hands to perform those dental procedures. Pros: I found out that office staff @ Hunt Valley, MD is very good; Cons: office staff @ Owings Mill, MD is very mediocre.

Dr.Hyatt
DO NOT GO HERE. This is the most unorganized surgeon and company I have ever been to. I got my wisdom teeth taken out by Dr.Hyatt and he ended up cracking two of me teeth! After the surgery he said that everything went well and didn’t even mention he cracked two of my teeth. Honestly, the worst experience. I do not recommend him at all.

Dr. Hyatt may be a good surgeon but he has the worst bedside manner. He was rude and patronizing at every visit I’ve had - both consultation and procedure. I would suggest to him to get some sort of sensitivity training because it definitely doesn’t seem like it comes to him naturally. His staff especially the dental assistants were much nicer, warmer, sympathetic, and also more willing to answer my questions. He should try to learn something from them. It’s honestly painful to watch this man interact with patients.

I went to my consultation this week and I was shocked at how Dr. Hyatt was talking to me. I felt disrespected and belittled the whole time. He would ask a question, I would answer it but then he would throw in a rude comment. I wouldn't want someone with such poor customer service to conduct surgery on me. As a health professional in this particular field, where patients are already nervous, being an a**hole and talking down on patients makes the experience even more nerving and scary. I looked at previous reviews before me and unfortunately can see that others had similar experiences like me. No patient should have to deal with that treatment.

WORST EXPERIENCE! – Oct 15, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Hyatt?
Extremely condescending in alignment with lots of other reviewers here. Began laughing at my face when I mentioned I was in pain and needed a dentist to look at it. He thinks he's the smartest person in the room. Also made me wait over an hour at his office (despite me making an appointment and his staff telling me that the doctor always runs on time and the patient should arrive early to not waste the doctor's time, did you ever wonder about wasting other people's time lol) He *might* be a knowledgeable dentist but he's not a people person and I would recommend finding a different dentist instead of him.

As a medical professional I was greatly disappointed in the experience at his office for my son's extractions. I felt that my son and I clearly expressed his anxiety over the procedure and need to be completely "out". They underdosed the oral sedatives and did not give enough time to effect. I felt like they were rushing to be done with us, and before I knew it they had pinned my son down and were trying to catheterize him as he was flailing. I ended up holding his arm still so they would not hurt him. He woke up remembering the entire horrible fiasco. They tried to brush it off...but my son and I were both distressed. I will never recommend this office or Dr. Hyatt to anyone. I felt like my son was a means to a profit for him, and nothing more. Very upsetting!!

Dr. Hyatt is the best. I was nervous about my wisdom tooth having to be removed, the original place I went said they weren’t trained to remove mine since they are so difficult. I got online and did a random search, I came across TMCFOS&D, but it was too late to call. The next day I called and got set up for an appt w/Dr. Hyatt for the very next week. He is a godsend. He’s so relaxed, has a great sense of humor and I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone as professional as he is. Thank you!

Was referred by my dentist. When I called to make the appointment, I called to verify that they took my insurance, and was told they did. Later found out I was billed the full amount. Billing manager told me they "will TAKE the insurance, but that doesn't mean we PARTICIPATE with your insurance." Unacceptable. When I tried to resolve this with the office manager, she was very dismissive and rude, so I instead asked for Dr. Hyatt to return my phone call. He never did.

Dr Hyatt made room in his schedule because I was in severe pain. He also personally called me the night after the extraction and the night after the implant to answer questions. I appreciated that because I did have questions after normal office hours. He was also flexible in performing an additional repair at the same time as my primary concern. It all turned out better than I hoped

I had a terrible experience, will not be going back. I had to wait OVER AN HOUR after my appointment time before I was able to see Hyatt. No apologies for the extremely long wait either. When Hyatt did make his appearance, he was extremely condescending and patronizing to me just because I asked him to explain why I needed to suddenly have surgery after only a 5 second examination. He also weirdly kept touching my hand and arm. Very bad experience.

Dr. Hyatt was recommended from a dentist that I have great respect for and for her ability. She was absolutely correct that he was the best doctor for the job. He is very patient orientated, skilled, knowledgeable and determined to achieve patient satisfaction. I recommend him highly and without reservation. He solved my issue with a determination which showed his sincerity to achieve results - after another doctor failed. He is honest and respectful of his clients.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hyatt's for over 15 years now. He is unquestionably the best dental surgeon in Maryland....and probably in the entire country. Over the years he has extracted numerous teeth of mine, installed 12 implants, performed an apicoectomy, etc. You name it and I've probably had it done. I've had all of my procedures done under local anesthetic, and I can honestly say that I've never felt any pain or discomfort. Simply put, Dr. Hyatt is a master – an artist – and a nice guy!

Dr. Hyatt did my implants 8 years ago and they are still feeling and looking great. He also removed a impacted wisdom tooth recently and that went smoothly as well. He was recommended by my dentist as the best in the Baltimore region and I believe it.

I was terrified at the idea of an extraction. Dr. Hyatt and his staff were comforting and professional at all levels. I would highly recommend him. He kept me informed through each step of the process and I found him to be kind and patient with my angst. There was no difficulty in getting appointments time. No issues whatsoever. Smooth and easy experience.

Absolutely fantastic. Had an extraction of a infected molar. It came out in 3 pieces. No pain at all. I've had cleanings done by others that were a lot more painful. He even called me that evening personally to see how I was doing. I never had any other doctor except for a couple veterinarians do that. Staff and assistance were top notch.
