Nice lady. Bad Dr.
I started seeing her after transferring to a new provider. She made several changes to my insulin settings. Two years after seeing her I was in a rut of highs. Openly discussed with her the challenges and need for changes. She was annoyed and frustrated that my trust in her was broken. Was even more upset when primary care doctors were also not understanding her lack of action and became unprofessional. Ultimately switched back to the previous provider and almost immediately began to see better number. Lower level after six months. New provider was “surprised” at previous treatment decisions. She is textbook focused. For Example, a report stating 30 percent of patients may respond well to something, so that is the path she takes. She doesn’t take into account 70 percent of people, majority don’t respond well. She would be better suited to be in a research position. To me, she is not qualified to see patients. For me it was an immediate improvement when I changed from her.

Rude, unfriendly, poor communication, unfair
If you are looking for a health care provider who cares about you, your feelings, and collaborating with you to find the best solution for your health, please see anyone else! Julie is rude, uncaring, degrading, mean, undermining & the most non personable doctor I have ever met in my life. Julie refuses to talk to her patients unless it’s face to face and when she does she does not care to hear your opinion or understand how you feel or hear your reasoning behind certain things. She thinks she is entitled and knows everything about you and your body and your health. She also oversteps her boundaries and lies to other professionals to make sure she has the last word to make herself look like the best even though she was very wrong about the situation. She threatens you and makes you feel bad about yourself for no reason. I’ve never been to a doctor who can make you feel so terrible. She does this every visit by the way. DO NOT waste your time or money or mentality seeing Julie Schommer!

Dissapointment
Dr Schommer seems to want to treat lab results and not the actual patient. I feel like she does not listen, and even worse does not seem to care.

To the point...
Despite being a 'senior' patient with diagnosed type 2 diabetes ...Dr. Schommer advised me I did NOT require her services. This after seeing my past lab results and self-reported daily glucose values. Seemed fair to me. I currently have my glucose values in good/excellent control. Will definitely consider her for future care/guidance as needed.

This was my first visit with Dr, Schommer and I could not disagree more with the individual that posted on earlier concerning this physician. She asked questions, listened, interacted well and generally seemed concerned about me not only as a patient but as a person. I never had the impression that "all she cares about is labs". Just the opposite - I was very impressed with her approach to learning about my diabetes and assisting me in managing it, as well as to helping me understand the medical options and alternatives to provide me with the best care and quality of life.

I’ve never felt more unheard and dismissed than I did during this visit. She knows lab values and nothing else. If you’re looking for someone to collaborate with you to find answers, to have a broad understanding of hormonal issues on overall health, go somewhere else. She’s one of those physicians who when she doesn’t know the answers, insinuates your symptoms aren’t valid, dismisses their severity…and yet has no other suggestions. Find someone else who is willing and able to help.
