I had an awful experience with Dr. Bemer at my last appointment. She has been treating my chronic anxiety for some time. I made this appointment to discuss recreational marijuana use with her and have a professional and respectful conversation about this topic. That is the complete opposite of how my appointment went. I was belittled and ridiculed for using a “psychoactive substance.” It was plainly evident that she was uncomfortable speaking to me about this. I would have preferred that she just said that rather than laugh uncomfortably while predicting that I’ll be a “chronic user” at the rate I’m going. What a joke. It saddens me that some providers truly are this biased and judgmental towards their patients.

I reported my symptoms of depression to her and she was very dismissive, responding in a belittling manner that did not help me in any way.

Told me that I should not have gotten the COVID Vaccine because I was previously infected with COVID and that as a result I put myself at risk for heart disease. Not only is this risk extremely low and treatable according to the CDC, the articles cited by Bemer were not peer reviewed and even stated that getting the vaccine in addition to previous infection reduces the risk of hospitalization. The University of Michigan as well as other top heath departments across the world advice getting vaccinated regardless of previous infection yet I was told I am being manipulated and lied to by infectious disease experts. My appointment was not even about COVID or the vaccine yet I ended up having to amuse an anti-vaccine rant. I highly do not recommend this “doctor.”

I've seen a lot of doctors in my life and she has to hands down be the worst I've seen. She was incredibly dismissive and defensive. I shared my medical history and the medication I've been prescribed. She dismissed the medication as "something she would never prescribe." Funny enough, that medication was prescribed by a specialist and has been incredibly effective in treating my condition. Then again, she was not even curious to learn why I had been prescribed it in the first place.

Very rude. Very dismissive. Did not listen to any of my concerns and actually told me it was a different reason (one that is not true). I would never recommend to anyone to see her.

My WORST healthcare experiences at UHS have been with Dr. Bemer. First, she misdiagnosed something I had as a cosmetic concern. A few months later I am now getting pretty major surgery. This could have been avoided if I was referred to a specialist earlier. Second, she prescribed me depression pills when I really just wanted to speak to a therapist. I specifically asked her to make sure it would not be seen by my parents on our health insurance, and she assured me they would not find out. An hour later I get a call from my parents :/.... Third, I went to UHS for sexual education, and sadly I was placed with Dr. Bemer. She had no knowledge about the things I wanted to talk about. Instead of finding me someone who could help, she looked up a really obscure research paper and advised me off of something she looked up for 2min... If you can, I would avoid seeing Dr. Bemer at UHS.

I have been having an amazing experience with Dr Bemer! I looked for her for acne treatment, and in the course we found out that one of my labs was altered before we could start my new medication. She was very careful investigating possible causes and was super helpful explaining me her interpretations. Also, during the whole process she made sure I did not have any questions. She took all my concerns very seriously and was always available to answer my questions. Also, she was careful and made sure that everything was normalized and stabilized before we started a new treatment. I recently needed to move to NYC during the course of my treatment due to my husband's job, and she did everything in her power to make this process as smoothly as possible for me. During my whole experience as her patient, she demonstrated to be a very competent, compassionate and caring doctor.

I have had nothing but horrible experience with Dr Bemer. She has ignored my concerns about my health and talked at the top of her lungs in a room with an open door about my medical records. Please avoid her when possible.

She tried to give me a pap smear without using Lube. I've never been so physically hurt by a doctor. She told me to come in some other time and we can try again. When I returned, I refused to see her and saw a different doctor instead, who used lube, and made sure it didn't hurt at all. Dr. Bremer is awful.

Dr. Bemer is incredibly short and disinterested in her patients. I was seen by her after a nurse urged me to make an appointment and she spent half of our two minutes spent together asking me “well what do you want me to do about it?”, despite the fact I had just finished explaining how I needed a consult as a nurse referred me to this appointment. The second half our time together consisted of her complaining about the nurse’s action of referring me here. Her words and actions made it quite clear she did not want me to be there, and I have never been met with so much disrespect by a doctor with whom I was seeking a consult. I have since made it a point to never see Dr. Bemer about a medical concern and urge others to consider an alternative physician.

She’s extremely rude and when I was uncomfortable during a procedure she laughed at me and didn’t care at all. She was examining me and said I had a certain virus and didn’t explain it at all and sent a prescription without even telling me. Didn’t listen to what I had to say. The worst doctor I’ve ever seen.

I have had several primary physicians throughout my life--Dr. Bemer is definitely my favorite--she's intelligent and personable. I just graduated from U of M, and during my time there, four of my friends went to Dr. Bemer for treatment of acne. Three of them were on accutane, and all four of them had a really good experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Bemer if you are a student at U of M and need treatment for acne--or honestly, any other medical concern.

I've never written a negative review of any dr. But Beamer is the absolute worst dr I've ever seen. Rude, abrasive, dismissive, and condescending. Don't waste you're time. You would be better off going to the minute clinic or being treated by a 3rd grader. No people skills and makes it clear she does not care about patients or their well being. Didn't not even give me a chance to describe my symptoms and didn't do basic human pleasantries like introductions or goodbyes.

I have seen Dr. Bemer about 5 times for various medical concerns. Every visit, she has been quick to get me out, sometimes just throwing a prescription in my direction with no care or concern or personalized, compassionate treatment. She has repeatedly patronized my concerns, and has treated me like just another number with another issue that she shows doesn't take seriously. I have ALWAYS gotten a second opinion after hers, and always felt more comfortable with my second doctor.
