Disappointed
Disappointed and surprised. He did not asked many questions during visit. His write-up contained incorrect information, some totally wrong and odd. I would not be comfortable having surgery with him.

Operated on me, the surgery was a complete failure and then he did not want to see me again. Stay away because he does not stand by his work. He is the worst surgeon I have ever dealt with and very arrogant on top of it.

My son saw Dr. Sonett for something rare. Dr. Sonett could not have been more caring and knowledgeable. He spent his time with us and has given us great guidance while my son is under his care. He explains and follows up with everything, he is just a wonderful doctor. His assistant Rose is so sweet and so helpful.

I did not have a good experience. Dr. Sonett did not listen to me concerning my husband he was septic and Dr. Sonett kept saying he was not! My husband almost died because he was septic. I am not sure what he did to my husband but after surgery to correct a failed esophagectomy my husband could not breathe correctly and over time deteriated. On our last visit to the office, Dr. Sonett fell asleep during our conversation. I looked at my husband and said we are done here. I will never know if he fell asleep during my husband's surgery. My husband had a horrible time in NY Presbyterian Hospital. It is just too much to write about all the complications and neglect I experienced. I am a nurse and was appalled at the care. My husband passed within a year of the surgery.

I have a very serious medical situation, in which I had an esophagectomy with colon interposition. I have been on a liquid diet for 20 yrs. This surgeon gave me false hopes of eating again by operating on me. One appointment he apologized for being unprepared which was acceptable. He then said he would get my surgical notes and review them and have me return to the office. Upon a call from them, I returned and he asked me what I expected him to do for me. He never got my surgical notes.

Dr. Sonett performed a 10 hour surgery on my sister that left her in excruciating and I think hastened her death. While he wrote in his report that he was confident he took out all of her cancer, the pathology reports showed, in fact, that he had left positive margins. Unsurprisingly, the follow up care was not ideal.

Why can't we give a doctor 6 stars?! It's clear why Dr. Sonett is a top doctor. Besides being an incredible surgeon he has a wonderful bedside manner. He explains things clearly so that the patient completely understands. Lastly, he is humble and down to earth. It doesn't get any better than this. I am so lucky that a local pulmonologist recommended Dr. Sonett to me.

I have an abnormal lung condition, needed to undergo a biopsy without choice to diagnose the rootcause. Surgeons were not ready to do it as it may breakout to a worst scenario of transplant, but Dr. Sonett evaluated and did my Lung biopsy successfully. His encouraging words and best-in-class treatment is a Ray of hope..!!
