Dr. Joshua Smothers, MD

I made an intake appointment weeks ago to establish Dr. Smothers as my new PCP. The appointment was then confirmed by his office. 3 days before the appointment, it was cancelled, leaving me without any means of getting prescriptions refilled or getting some much-needed referrals for some ongoing concerns. I'm reminded of his level of treatment three years earlier, when as my then-PCP, he had been dismissive and indifferent to my problems related to the onset of osteoarthritis. I'm quite disappointed to see his attitude towards patient care hasn't improved, and that the University chooses to employ disdainful and unprofessional care providers like him.

Dr. Smothers is the best family doctor I’ve encountered in Columbia. He has been extremely patient and kind with my Grandma. He has ordered every test she has wanted, set her up with physical therapy, and has made me feel seen as my Grandma’s caretaker. He went so far as to write the city a letter since she couldn’t pull out her garbage cans each week and has been very responsive and helpful as we were tracking her blood pressure. Overall, I have been super impressed and would highly recommend him! Thank you Dr Smothers!

Dr. Joshua Smothers is very dismissive. He will give you ever reason not to do a test, referral etc. instead of helping when there are significant findings and concern from other providers.
