While he has written some okay research papers about transgender care, he holds the idea that being transgender is a far less serious issue than being born with an intersex condition. Josh is very sympathetic to intersex people, but acts as though being transgender is a choice or cosmetic and not a serious matter. This offends me because I know that transitioning saves lives, and that a successful transition either often or always makes the difference between having a happy successful life or dying of suicide, homicide or facing horrible persecution. That is the grim reality and we need physicians to give it the extreme credit it deserves. Josh's papers need to take into account a wider variety of people, but I am glad he wrote them. It is a good start!
