I attended a session with Dr. Cockroft, expecting a collaborative consultation based on my referral. However, the appointment’s purpose as a psychiatric evaluation was not clarified until invasive questions began, causing unexpected distress as a patient with PTSD. Sensitive topics, such as my trauma history, were addressed without sufficient rapport-building, leaving me feeling unsafe. Inaccuracies in the notes further misrepresented my experience and concerns. While a minor amendment was made, significant issues remain unresolved, which has impacted my trust in this process. The dismissive response to the harm caused has left lasting damage. The effort required to advocate for accurate documentation has negatively affected my healing. Informed consent is a right, not optional. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in clarity, communication, and trauma-informed care for future patients of Dr. Cockroft.
