Dr. Joseph Mawyer
Dr. Joseph Mawyer at Village Medical. I was not sure what to expect, he is very straight forward.Professional, but very busy. Some may say very brusque, but it's a nice change sometimes to hear an honest opinion. Hear what he is saying beyond the tone, he cares about what he does and goes beyond to search for the right answer. I thought he was pretty awesome.

Worst Doctor I’ve EVER seen
Reading through these reviews, you either love him or hate him. I hated him. I gave him several opportunities to show me his “bedside manner”. Time and again he dismissed me, talked down to me, ignored my concerns. As a premenopausal woman he completely ignored my health concerns, and when I asked about estrogen therapy he shut me down and said that Doctors don’t prescribe hormone replacement anymore, which is a lie. HE may not believe in it but there are many doctors who specialize in hormone replacement. He ignored my debilitating headaches, extreme exhaustion, and mood swings. If a male doctor can’t empathize or even care to listen to a woman’s menopausal symptoms, even if it’s at a point where it’s effecting my mental health then maybe he shouldn’t practice medicine. Dr. Mawyer basically told me that there was nothing he could do and thats just how I’m going to feel. I also feel he ordered unnecessary tests just to bill my insurance for.

Dismissive and abrasive
Went to this dr twice for help, dismisses the issues. Commented on the size of my body & told me to keep a diet that is no longer a medical recommendation. Don’t waste your time, fine someone who cares for you.

Dr. Mawyer is a wonderful doctor. He cares about his patients which is rare now days. As far as the front office sraff. It needs work. I took a day off work for my appointment and the girl did not push the checked in button and I sat there for 1 hour. Come to find out my Dr. Left for the day. No one said a word to me until i asked. Very poor customer relations. They get up and leave when they want to leaving you sit there.

Has been my difficult husbands primary for 3 years. His rule is if you don’t come in regularly don’t expect him to fix your problems without having a history with you. He appears to have NO idea how difficult it is to get some men to the Dr. our last 20 minute apt lasted 45. He even tells you up front if your looking for bedside manner, you’re at the wrong office. Sometimes being in the middle of this apt is annoying to me but he gives us good information and had my husbands health at the forefront. Didn’t want to let me in for visit due to Covid. Told them to cancel the appointment then and we will go somewhere else. The man had been REALLY sick for the previous 2 1/2 months and I needed to be in there to share information. Since I’m his care taker and wife, there was no reason to be excluded and wasn’t letting him go in alone. I think the Dr. realized that 10 minutes into the visit. But that incident was very upsetting to me and I couldn’t help but to cry??. Ok now??

I’ve never been treated so horribly by a doctor. You go to a Doctor to help you, educate you on your condition and on all of your treatment options. My experience was, if I didn’t take the treatment that he wanted then I wouldn’t get any treatment at all. He put me down because of the type and dosage of meds my previous Dr prescribed to me. As a patient I didn’t even know that what I was prescribed was a dosage I should have questioned and that a medication I should’ve taken. I left feeling horrible, that I put him out for going to the Dr seeking help. He did absolutely nothing for me and didn’t want to do anything to help me. I’ve never had such a bad experience.

Dr Mawyer made fun of me when I told him I was having stomach problems. Went back to my old primary care doctor and they found Stage IV Lung Cancer while trying to find out why my stomach was so bad. Had Dr Mawyer listened to me, we might have caught this before it became Stage IV. Dr Mawyer kept saying I couldn't possibly have cancer as I hadn't lost any weight. Well, maybe he needs to go back and study this a little more. Love him at first, but he let me down.
