Dr. Joseph Murphy, MD

Although I never saw Dr. Murphy for my prenatal check ups he delivered my baby. I ended up having an emergency C section and thank God I did. The hospital had me sitting but Dr. Murphy came right in and told me what the situation was and what option was best for baby. I was terrified but he made me feel comfortable and I felt like I was in good hands. After my C section I felt no pain and my scar is barely noticeable and I healed fairly quickly. I started to become impatient in the hospital and desperate to get home but Dr. Murphy personally called me and calmed me down. I had blood pressure issues and he wanted to give me another day and tests to make sure I was fine. Afterwards for my follow ups he always listened to me and made sure I was ok, I also had post partum depression. Actually out of all my appointments with that clinic he’s the only one who made me feel heard!

No matter how busy Dr. Murphy is, you always know he is totally focused on you. He does not rush the visit. He is kind , caring, compassionate, sincere and above all thorough. He makes sure your concerns are addressed to your satisfaction and that all of your questions are answered before you leave. He recently helped me with a rare pelvic side effect of COVID. I the nurses at my former oncologist office to thank for recommending Dr. Murphy. He truly is AWESOME and I don’t use that term lightly.

He is the best doctor ever!

I have been seeing Dr. Joseph Murphy for about 25 years. He is comforting, respectful, very personable, professional, a great listener and a wonderful physician. Over the years he has helped me through various issues, but one in particular will never be forgotten. I arrived for my usual check-up and was about to leave, but he looked me directly in my eyes and asked if there was anything going on that I wanted to talk about. My right leg was swollen and I had pain for the previous few days, but wasn’t going to bother him about. When he examined my leg, he immediately called the ER and scheduled me to go directly there. Long story short, I had a deep vein thrombosis which moved to my lung and I was hospitalized for over one week. Dr. Murphy, thank you again for literally saving my LIFE!!!

Dr. Murphy is THE BEST. Caring, respectful and knowledgeable, with great sense of humor and always with a smile on his face. I saw him for the most my prenatal visits (even though the practice wants you to go through all the doctors). He always asked me if I had any questions and took time to answer all of them. But good luck to schedule an appointment. Wait time is 3-4 months if you’re not pregnant. But it’s not him, it’s Abington Jefferson system in general is sucks. So I eventually switched to another practice because of issues like this but gonna miss this doctor for sure.

My issue is not with Dr. Murphy himself but that he should no longer be accepting new patients if it is near impossible to get an appointment with him. I had an annual check-up last year which was fine and then this year, for weeks I tried to schedule my annual only to be told his October schedule wasn't available yet and to call back, then on the 8th call was told now he is scheduling for November. It is unacceptable and he should stop adding new patients if he clearly already has too many.

I have seen Dr. Murphy for my prenatal visits and he is very kind, knowledgeable, caring and thorough. He listened to me and paid attention to my symptoms and ordered appropriate tests because of which we were able to prepone my C-section as the test results indicated theoretical chance of still birth. I owe it to Dr. Murphy for his thoroughness because of which I have a healthy baby boy today. I recommend him (without hesitation) to any one looking for an obstetrician. Thank you Dr. Murphy.

I scheduled an appointment on line because it is offered in the website as a method of scheduling an appointment, I received an e-mail confirmation of my appointment. Upon arrival I was informed that I wasn’t on the schedule and that the on-line scheduling should have been disabled due to COVID. It’s been five months since COVID has been on the scene and the on line scheduling is not disabled. This is irresponsible of Abington Jefferson and a tremendous inconvenience to me.

Dr. Murphy is my favorite obgyn and doctor in general. I met him as one of the doctors in the practice during my first pregnancy and thought he was amazing. He is so patient and encouraged me to ask as many questions as I wanted while answering with humor and knowledge. I felt so comfortable and well taken care of by Dr. Murphy.

Dr. Murphy is by far the best doctor ever!! His bedside manner is superb. He’s patient, relatable and doesn’t make you feel rushed.

One of the best in the area!! Assisted me through several complicated female issues associated with high risk child births then later in life female issues. He provides clear explanations along with an amazing caring and compassionate bedside manner. Down to earth and really cares about his patients. He is in high demand so it can be a little challenging to get an appointment so schedule early.

Dr. Murphy is the best--kind and considerate--takes as much time as necessary
