Dr. Joseph Mets, MD

I was recently referred to Dr. Mets by my Endocrinologist, Dr. Sarkar, and he performed a total thyroidectomy on me two weeks ago. Dr. Mets is wonderful. He has great bedside manner, he is kind, caring, very thorough, explains everything in detail. Surgery was successful with no complications. I highly recommend him!!

I had to have emergency surgery a month ago for appendicitis.. I work in healthcare and have had 3 other prior abdominal surgeries even tho I’m only in my 30’s. I was so terrified of what “doctor of the day” I would end up with who was on call that day, I have had bad experiences and treatment poorly by doctors in the past.. I was BLESSED by the universe it was Dr. Mets. I couldn’t have asked for a kinder, funnier, more skilled or caring surgeon. He made me feel safe and made sure my pain was managed afterwards very well. I have had many other surgeries and I can tell you a good from bad surgeon and Dr Mets it’s the top tier. I would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat!!

I was recently admitted to SMH for a bowel obstruction. A general surgeon diagnosed me with a “mass” that according to him “had to be removed”. Thankfully my surgeon, Dr Mets, arrived at my room the morning of the scheduled surgery. He had performed a prior hernia surgery on me the year before. After a consultation between the doctors, Dr Mets informed me that he would perform a robotic surgery on my right side. I am so glad that he performed the surgery because he not only repaired 2 hernias on my right side, he also found and repaired 2 hernias on my left side. He Did Not remove a “mass”. I can’t say enough about how professional, through and experienced Dr Mets is and his bedside manner is second to none. Thank you again Dr Mets. You are the best and so easy to communicate with.

Dr. Mets is an excellent surgeon. He carefully explained my options and was very clear in providing information. The entire experience went very well and there were no surprises as he was very clear about everything regarding my medical treatment. This is very unusual for the Intercoastal Group.

It was completely by chance that Dr. Mets ended up in my ER room last November. I was suffering from acute diverticulitis with an abscess. He didn’t know me from Adam….and yet I felt like he was treating a family member. He has been by my side and completed a robotic siegmoidectomy as of two weeks ago. He pushed for me to have the surgery as a scheduled procedure rather than waiting for another emergency episode…as the pathology determined….the condition was severe and was certain to have returned in a far more difficult manner. I am grateful to him, his nurse Bianca, and his entire staff who, like him, have been nothing but kind, respectful, and most importantly…responsive. I recommend Dr Joseph Mets with every fiber of my being. He is, quite simply, a good and honest man. I am and will be eternally grateful it was he who landed in my er room last November. He was heaven sent. By the way…I have never written a review about a doctor ever before.

Dr. Met's is a doctor that I would recommend to anyone that has to have surgery. He took the time to answer all my questions and was very patient. When I was hospitalized he came by and checked on my daily even when I was not on his rotation. You are appreciated Dr. Mets!

My initial introduction to Dr. Mets was very enlightening. I gained my confidence in him very quickly due to his detailed description of my surgery required and follow up recuperation. Dr. Mets compassion showed when he made telephone contact with my daughter in another city to further satisfy the family concerns, which added great comfort to me. Dr. Mets compassion, knowledge and medical skills proved very positive since coming through surgery successfully with no after discomfort or problems what so ever. Dr. Mets is tops in every way a patient deserves. I have deep gratitude for his generous support. He is my kind of surgeon.

Dr Mets operated on my 80 year old father. He was kind, patient, helpful, and always available. He first tried to treat my dad without surgery, which I really appreciated. When we realized that he was not getting better, and needed surgery, Dr Mets was terrific. He explained what to expect before, during, and after. My dad ended up in the hospital for two weeks and Dr Mets was there every day.

The most gracious, accessible, caring down to earth medical doctor I've experienced during my 67 years of living. He is the GOLD STANDARD. He cares and goes above and beyond the call of duty. An excellent surgeon and a truly wonderful human being! I have been fortunate to have been under his care during my hospitalizations, recently.

Dr. Mets performed my surgery while I was under general anesthesia. Not only did he do a great job with the surgery, he was also incredibly informative to both me and my family. I have never had a doctor take as much time explaining things and also making sure I knew all the risks and benefits.
