Dr. Joseph Legaspi, MD

I really like Dr. Legaspi. I first met him while he was working on a Tuesday at Midwest Express. I was in a crisis situation. The next day I was hospitalized. He was my attending at the hospital. I knew from the moment I first met him that I wanted him to be my primary care provider, him actually being my attending at the hospital made it so much less frightening. He is incredibly calming. After the hospital was over, I saw him for the first time in his office in Munster. I've always felt that he takes the time to listen to me, to answer questions, to look for the answer and not just slap a bandaid on a problem. I can't recommend him highly enough. My husband also sees him. Though this review is not about his office, I do see some negative reviews of his office staff. I'm not sure if the staff has changed. I've been a patient since 2023, I can say I've never had a bad experience with anyone from the front desk, throughout the visit, and checking out. I feel valued.

Dr. Lagasspi worked with Dr. Sardesai for a very long time until Dr Sardesai retired. (Sad day for us all) I would have to say we didn’t always see eye to eye on everything in the beginning, but he is a great doctor. The last time I saw him I was hospitalized. He knows what I’ve been dealing with for years and is much nicer than when he first started. He is a lot more compassionate than before and he’s a great listener. I unfortunately had to see the new NP Kourtney for my after care from the hospital and she kinda second guessed his and Dr. Sardesai on their treatment plan for me. I’m 43 and I’ve been going to them for 28 years. Since Dr. Lagasspi is going to be super busy now, I’m not sure I can get used to being treated by Kourtney. That would be the only reason I would not see Lagasspi again. Other than that, he’s knowledgeable, professional and his bedside manner has improved tremendously.

My appointment was at 1:15 PM, by 2 PM, they still haven't called me. I asked the receptionist and she said that he just got there because he have to do his rounds at the hospital. Then they shouldn't have scheduled anyone until he is in house. I feel that he is very inconsiderate of his patients. He thinks just because he is a doctor that his time is more valuable than the patients. We all have things to do, this is the reason we make an appointment. By 2:15, I'm still waiting to get called, there are patients before me that are still waiting. I cancelled my appointment. 3 days after, they charged me for an appointment I did not make. Oh, the receptionists are talking about me like I'm not there, gossiping. She is also does not believe in other patients privacy because she would call a patient on the phone and talked loud about their problem. The doctor, and staff lack manners and decency towards his patients.

He is well informed and discusses opinions in treatment that benefits the patient.

I have been seeing Dr Legaspi for about 6 years. I love him , he listens to you and explains everything so you can understand it. I have and will continue to recommend him to my friends and family. Brenda Roach

I would recommend anyone to Dr. L just not his particular office. The staff is unfriendly and cancelled an appointment without telling me. I called a few days later because I was still sick and never received a phone call back. I called three times in one day. This is weird to me as I've been going there for 10 years. I could easily go to another doctor. I choose Dr. L. My only suggestion is to discuss with staff the importance of patient service. This is still a business and could lose patients
