Ear pain and head pressure
I went to see him for the first time due to ear pain and pressure on my forehead. He checked my ears and removed some ear wax. In the past it’s been done with a vacuum or a solution. He picked at it and really hurt my eardrum. I naturally flinched and hit his arm and he yelled at me not to do that. I apologized and explained that it was a reflex and again proceeded to to scold me. I completely understand that I could have made him hurt me however his response to a patient and how he dealt with it was highly inappropriate. Maybe he should be a little gentler when he’s picking at someone’s eardrum. He gave me a nasal spray and didn’t really address when I told him that I feel dizzy sometimes. He scoped my nose but he wasn’t very thorough in his evaluation. I won’t be making another appointment with him.

Not recommended for kids
Took my 4 year old son for a wax extraction a couple of years ago, and Dr. Depietro was neither gentle nor patient. The process was unnecessarily painful for my child, who developed a fear of ear doctors as a direct result. We had to follow up with a different practitioner and it took him multiple visits to convince my son that he wouldn't hurt him. Not ideal for anyone, particularly not for kids with chronic ear issues (as they so often are).

Friendly and upbeat, but dismissive
I was referred to Dr. DePietro by my PCP for tinnitus. After a 30-minute wait, I had a hearing test with an audiologist, who confirmed what I already knew — my hearing is fine. In my meeting with DePietro after another 60-minute wait, he disclosed that ENTs don’t really like working with tinnitus and that my hx of migraines suggests that I should see a neurologist for the issue. Five minutes of time with the guy and a referral to someone who will probably also brush me off. He seems like a cool guy to go on runs with (he has many triathlon medals hanging in his office), but I don’t think he takes hearing-related issues seriously.
