Dr. Josef Eichinger, MD

Dr. Eichinger did an amazing job with my modified Eden-Lange surgery, which isn't a common procedure. So far I’m happy with the results! What really stood out was how he took the time to explain everything, when so many other doctors just speak to their patients only briefly. I was also impressed by how Dr. Eichinger personally came to talk to my family in the waiting room after the surgery, especially when my family noticed that other surgeons had their nurses or PA’s greet the family in the waiting area. It's not something you see often, and It just goes to show what kind of person, and the caliber of doctor, he is. I traveled across the country for this surgery, but I have absolutely no regrets. Finding Dr. Eichinger was a blessing, and my family and I are so grateful for his help. He is a true professional in every sense, and his expertise and genuine care for his patients is beyond reproach. If you need this kind of specialized surgery, I can't recommend Dr. Eichinger enough!

I had a crushed right elbow he did a full elbow replacement. I can’t say enough about this wonderful man.

Dr. Eichinger is my hero. I broke my elbow rollerskating and it was a very complicated break. My olecranon and radial head were sheared along with damage to my humerus. Dr. Eichinger worked tirelessly in surgery to put my elbow back together. He went above and beyond while I was on the table to ensure everything in my elbow joint was perfectly in place. I’m so grateful that he was my surgeon because I was told by him and by other doctors that an elbow replacement was as possible outcome for me. Thanks to Dr. Eichinger my arm is completely healed and I’m pain free with almost complete range of motion. He is the absolute best of the best.

Dr. Eichinger repaired my broken arm beautifully. His communication regarding the surgery as well as the healing process were wonderful. I can happily say 6 months after the accident my arm is back to 100% even after a nerve issue related to the accident itself, not the surgery. His explanations of everything were easily understood and he took the time to truly care about me. Thank you!

This doctor has my praise! I started seeing him a year ago for a bad shoulder surgery. He tried to help me in every way and never pushed me into surgery. I finally had had all the pain I could handle. I put my trust and faith in him. I am less than 3 weeks post surgery and am recovering perfectly. All I can say is thank you for putting me on the road to a total recovery. I had a 4 hour commute to find him well worth it!

Dr. Eichinger is the best and brightest young talent at MUSC. If you have upper extremity issues I would only see him. When other Orthopaedic surgeons come to him to be treated, you know he is competent. His training pedigree is nothing short of amazing, from his USA Military Academy undergraduate degree to his fellowship at Harvard in upper extremity surgery.

After great confusion at another institution I was referred to MUSC in general, then subsequently referred to Dr. Eichinger. I feel very fortunate to have been placed in his hands. The 2 hour drive to Charleston was certainly well worth the trip. The pain level do to the Ulnar nerve at my right elbow being crushed has been greatly reduced. Dr. Eichinger and his team not only met my expectations, they exceeded them.
