This man us awful. . Worse doctor I have ever seen. Told me there is nothing he can do in the hallway. did not even come in the examine room. But I am sure he will charge for an office visit.

From the initial office visit, to the day after surgery, Dr. Spears and his team were very friendly, accommodating, caring and informative... the surgery and afterwards, was just as he explained. He did an amazing job, and I’d go to him again in a heartbeat!!! Thank you Dr. Spears!!!

Despite all the negative comments in these reviews, Dr. Spears is a highly talented and brilliantly skilled surgeon who is an expert in his field. My recent back surgery was flawlessly performed and my recovery was fast and painless. Dr. Spears is a military veteran who tells it like it is - very straightforward and sometimes brunt. He’s not a warm and fuzzy, hold your hand type of doctor but he’ll give you an honest assessment of your medical problem and what he can do to fix them. Follow his instructions and if he says he can make your spine issues better you can be confident that he will. His staff are all top notch as well. Best spinal surgeon in mid-Missouri. And if you need a back surgeon, that’s the kind I want ! I can skip the warm banter and hand holding. Go see Dr. Spears and make your own opinion. Just be forewarned about his irascible and no-nonsense personality.

Dr. Spears may be an excellent surgeon, but he certainly lacks in "people skills". He is condescending, arrogant, vulgar, and is unprofessionally sarcastic to patients and their family members. He all but told me to shut up and let my husband speak. He needs to remember that it's the patients that keep him in practice!

I have had #2 surgeries, lower lumbar several yrs ago and just released from 3-level neck fusion, performed by Dr. Spears. He is absolutely the finest orthopedic spinal surgeon in this state and I would trust no other physician with my spine and of his honesty of how he could help me. And his clinic team....Jason and staff are of the same excellence...and again I cannot thank you enough for your care and services!!

What a tool!!! My son was having severe back pain and we were referred by his primary care physician. Dr. S was pissed that we wasted his time with back pain. He said multiple times “I am a surgeon why are you here for back pain. “ After he finished that tantrum he proceeded to tell us that my son should go to college and get a degree and not be a day laborer his whole life then he wouldn’t have back pain. He also suggested union jobs so he wouldn’t have to work hard. Wow really!! Total Jerk

Dr. Spears has done 3 spinal fusions on me in the last 4 years. Every experience has been fantastic. I have been told that he is ex-military which may explain why he is meticulous and proud of his work. He is a no-bs kind of guy. You may not like what he has to say, but you can bet it will be the absolute truth. I totally appreciate his staff also. Jason and Amy are the best. If you have a serious back problem you won't find a better surgeon.

I have never been yelled at like this before by a doctor. I felt like I was in high school getting caught having sex and smoking pot in the bathroom. Other review said he was no nonsense which is fine but he treated me and my mother very poorly. I have no doubt that his diagnosis was accurate but all I heard after being shouted at for five minutes and given no opportunity to ask any questions was "Suck it butter cup, This your life".

Dr. Spears is a down to earth surgeon that provides a service to mid-missouri that is hard to find. I have referred three new patients to him and they all have had great success as did I. He is very direct in his assessments, and gives you all the facts before proceeding with any surgical options. He is realistic with your possible outcomes and is not too proud to admit when his surgical expertise will not help you. I encourage anyone that has been told they need back surgery to see him first.

Dr. Spears is a very straightforward doctor. He is very intelligent and has no time for BS or nonsense. He does spend time making sure you are aware of your options while also making sure you understand what is best. I wish all doctors were as honest as him. I felt completely safe in his hands, and have never doubted his diagnosis. He is also a very caring person, who takes a great pride in his work and his patients well being. He truly is in the right specialty!

Only waited about 10 to 15 minutes. Dr. Spears was very straight forward. He didn't beat around the bush. He told us exactly like it was and we appreciate that. Finally someone with honesty, Integrity and a doctor that won't put you through it if it isn't going to do anything to help you! I highly recommend him to anyone with spine/back issues. And although it wasn't what we wanted to hear at least we know what lies ahead.

My husband and I have each had 2 surgeries by Dr Spears. We could not be more pleased with the results. He's all business and isn't much interested in chatting, but when we listened without interupting, we found most all of our questions had been answered. We highly recommend Dr Spears to friends and family.
